Honestly , i started my scrolling with a 10 dollar used flea market Dremel saw 30+ years ago,
making animal kitchen magnets -that saw of yours looks miles better than
my first saw -One of my all time favorite saws is a combination of 3 worn out 15" Taiwan machines  -
I call Frankenstien -- i keep it around for good luck !

Hegners can be tempermental -
I know that when i first got my Polymax the switch
didnt work every time -
Hegner mentioned that from time to time it needed to be cleaned -
So I first started by using my air compressor ( on a very low pressure )
and cleaned out the switch - which solved the problem.
Those  motors are very exspensive and well built -most perform flawlessly for many many years .
If this doesnt work , Id call Hegner ( their nice people -but you need to be patient with them )
Ive noticed that i need to clean it out again - which is on my short list of things to do ,
when i get over this darn flu bug !

Welcome !
I get the  8 1/2 by 11 sticker sheets ( buy them by the 250 count from Online Labels.com )
part number OL175WX -plain with a back slit ----
and either attach them to blue tape on your project- or the clean wood . Yes the dust does pick them up a bit on plain wood
but for the most part i can get threw what im cutting before their is a problem .
Clear tape doe'snt work well ( for me anyways )- and spraying adhesive seems toxic to me - so i avoid it
as much as possible. ( i do alot of cutting )

« on: December 05, 2014, 07:17:44 pm »
Thanks DWSudekum !
They dont have them either -but thats a nice site anyways -
may be able to use that one someday -with all the old stuff ive got !
Tony

Ive emailed a few sellers of Merit sanding products - Not even sure how old the sander head is -
Ive been doing this so long - im not even sure how old it really is -
it may of been a number of years old when i bought them -
they only make the plastic version now - and their not that durable
isnt that the way todays machines are going -
use them until they break and then dispose them

Ask Steve a question. / need parts for metal sand-o-flex
« on: December 04, 2014, 04:52:19 pm »
Hi Steve and fellow Scrollers !

I have several sand o flex sanders ( the old metal ones )
and I can get the brushes about any where -becasue they still make the light weight plastic
one- but the metal model was discontinued several years ago .
I need the 8 pc Face clip set  -part number 11027 ( merit company )
I know Saint -Grobien now owns the Merit company ( but they dont deal with small orders )

Anyone know where i can buy these - ?

Im curious about part availability in Ireland -If you were in the US ,
Id have no problem suggesting Seyco -not sure how things are in Ireland -
wether you have decent tech support on the Excalibur .
Parallel Arm saws dont cut as fast , but tend to be trouble free for the most part -
and extremely durable - In my eyes their main problem  ( at least as far as im concerned )
is that thin blades like 0/2 and 3 brake fairly quickly -

What type of projects are you interested in , or what uses do you intend for it if ?
even thou Im into Hegner -Id suggest a Hawk ( if a parallel saw is in your future )
But do check on support and parts for Excalibur !

« on: September 15, 2014, 12:37:01 pm »
i ran into a man sometime back who use to order coinage from different countries of the world
and turn them into jewelry on his saw -wish i knew how he got the coins -but im sure theirs someone on the net .

Some countries have very interesting animals and characters on their coins that a jeweler might find interesting !

Wow! That is quite a collection. I think it would be neat to have a treadle saw.

Their OK but a pain in the dareare - many of them were scrapped when motorized ones came out
the ones that survived -were stored away in Barns or had some makeshift attachment so they could take a motor

Kinda tough finding parts for those suckers -
