Duhhh! Poplar.  Guess I had Polar blades on the brain. Good catch.

I do not know about glue and stain but in pen making I have  tinted epoxy with acrylic paints. This will probably not not help you but I just toss it out anyway.

I've not been here for a long time. The last time I was here I tried to post a photo without success.I received a message saying something like the photo was of the wrong size or something to that effect. However I do lurk frequently. Just a bit ago I tried posting a photo of a dust collection system I have. This time it took. I cut some of Steve's patterns and this is where I should post them. I'll try giving it another shot.

This may be a solution. A HF dust collector mounted on a shelf above my wife's car.

I've never cut key chains so perhaps I'm probably out in left field here but...would not 1/8" BB be less bulky and less prone to breaking? Just a thought. Hardwoods might be more interesting due to the varieties in hardwoods.

The stick people are great. I have downloaded a few of the patterns but they are still on my to do list.

Hawks are not the most popular because you can but a good new saw for so much less than a Hawk or Hegner. However they are a top of the line saws which need very little maintenance if ever. A search on craigs list will show used machines quite often. I also purchased a220VS Ultra Hawk in pristine condition for $200. I was told the controller needed replacement at the time of purchase. I have a total of $400 invested. It will be the last saw I will ever buy. That's considering I'm just under 80.

Expensive little critter. I and many others use a Dremel tool along with the routing attachment. That is not cheap also but much more versatile. Just another option.

I don't have much experience with different hardwoods. But as a relatively new scroller I cut lots of pine and some poplar and oak. That is what is all that is available at Home Depot and Lowes. I have cut a few things from mystery hardwood salvaged from some freebie furniture, a good source for cheap hardwood. I cut mostly puzzles and some children's toys. I just finish most everything with 50/50 BLO and Mineral Spirits.

Steve, I just read your daily post and it appears you have had a great time at the show. The pictures are interesting too. Unfortunately Denver has not had a similar show for quite some time. So it's good to see others enjoy them.

I find an electric palm sander is handy. A Dremel tool with a plunge router attachment takes the drilling of pilot holes so much easier.
