General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Adhesive caps
« on: January 14, 2012, 10:43:40 pm »
i dont like turning can upside down to spray nozzle clean cause it wastes to much air
so i pull the cap and put it in a baby food jar with min spirits in it. i also keep old ones
around from empty cans in case i need one.

i agree, my EX-21 is a great saw and Ray sets the standard for customer service.
he answered a lot of stupid questions when i first started scrolling with my saw
and his patience with me was very surprising!

a LOT of companies should send there reps and techs to Ray for CS training if it
were available. they could learn a lot from him.

i picked up my saw used and he still gives me great service if that tells you anything?

to anyone thinking of buying an Excalibur saw.... DO IT! 99.9% doubtful if you will ever regret it.

the best way to learn is to buy a bunch of blades and just start tearing through some wood!
perfect practice makes perfect

but also, there is tons of great websites and lots of excellent videos to learn from and Steve
has a LOT of experience and has some great videos posted so just start watching and learning
and dont EVER be afraid to ask for help... there is no stupid questions!

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Dust Collector...mini from H F ...
« on: January 14, 2012, 09:59:50 pm »
Think of this, if you have dust on your glasses, you got it in your lungs.  Not a good thing

damn chuck, you just scared the crap out of me!!
i knew i had some dust floating around the shop but i am blowing my glasses off from time
to time. i have a nice jet air filter but i need to find someone close by to help me mount it.
one of the health problems i have is a loss of feeling in my feet so i can very easily injure
myself when trying to climb and stand on a ladder as i cant feel the rungs under me and know
where im standing plus the sever arthritis in my hips and knees also impair my ability to climb
a ladder.
but i really need to get it put up so i am going to have to hire someone to do it for me cause
i have yet to start doing any serious sanding/finishing so its only going to get worse.

that small collector from HF, can i use a 20% off coupon on top of that sale price??

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: TURBO CARVER
« on: January 14, 2012, 12:47:09 pm »
Holy butt-cheeks those things are expensive!
http://www.turbocarver.com/purchaselist/body_purchaselist.htm

in fact i would say its way overpriced for a bunch of plastic tubing, fittings,
and even the carver part looks mostly made of plastic! the compressor looks
same as one for airbrushing and those are a hundred bucks or less.

im sure it works great but i would have to be really dedicated to carving to
get one and even then it would be hard to spend that much money, but thats
just my opinion.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Delta scroll saw for $350 @ Woodcraft
« on: January 14, 2012, 12:34:31 pm »
i got an issue of a woodworking magazine this week and it had a Woodcraft ad in it saying they will be having
a sale for the Delta scroll saw with light and stand starting on 1-28-12 'while supplies last' and i think
the price was going to be around $350

Woodcraft listing

thats a fantastic price again and im hoping i can get a few of my items sold so i can buy one! but i wanted others
here to know about this great deal. its not a Dewalt but its the same exact thing and you can always paint it yellow
if you absolutely have to.

« on: January 11, 2012, 05:55:47 pm »
thanks everyone for the kind words, i greatly appreciate it!

that comb & scissors is the third thing i ever made on a scroll saw,
the comb was a major PITA but it turned out good and im really
proud of the little picture frame as the back holder part is raised up
by three small pieces of wood i cut which is a little thinner then the
center of a toothpick and its glued on three sides of the wood back
to support it so a picture can slide in the one end.

i dont think i have the patience to do a big project but it does impress
the heck out of me what some of you are capable of. projects that
some people have hundreds of hours in just blows my mind! hopefully
i will be that good some day if i dont have a nervous breakdown first.  :o
