Larry, I may not understand exactly what is happening, but, I have an Excalibur that I have to adjust the top arm sometimes to make sure it is level. I have vibration some since I am not on a slab and the top arm tends to slip down some , making the top blade holder not perpendicular  with the bottom.

I have used the blue loctite for several years on my set screws on EX21 and has saved a lot of adjusting time. I do, however, replace both top and bottom set screws and thumb screws ends about every two years so I do not have to put too apply too much pressure. This will keep the thumb screws from wearing so much.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Excalibur Upper Arm Adjustment
« on: July 30, 2018, 05:03:42 pm »
Dont know the year model of yours but on the left side of upper arm at back you may see an adjustment screw ( mine is a 2011 model and has it) Take a wrench and turn the screw just maybe a quarter turn at a time until you find the arm is getting stiffer. I had mine at one time to stay up until i made a blade change but did not feel comfortable with it so backed back down. Also, I believe you can go to youtube and find instructions on adjusting the upper arm. Hope this helps. You will have to keep the round knob at the rear top adjusted over a period of time because the vibration will bring it down. Before I begin each day, I check the level of my upper arm by measuring the distance from the table to the bottom of the arm and that should be approximately 2 3/4" back and front.

Welcome Rob. I am Tony, aka, Toneman from Paris, Texas, which is about 90 miles west of you. Glad to have you aboard. I use the Flying Dutchman blades and also the Olsen blades. As already stated, either of these I believe would be better than HD blades. The cost of a good blade is cheap compared to a ruined project with several hours invested.

OMG Judy, I just read your initial post about your hernia surgery! I had a very similar situation. After a stomach hernia surgery and mesh implant I developed a serious infection and had to have another surgery to remove all the poison. They left a huge open hole in my stomach and a nurse had to clean and repack it every day for two weeks. I could have stuck an orange or apple through that hole! So glad to hear you are doing ok! Sorry for your loss; I lost my baby ( 12 yr old American bulldog ) in January and miss him every day. So, my wife went to the dog pound and brought home a rescue and he has found a place in my heart now. God bless you!

Thanks Norm for you comments. Yes, air filtration is a must for me. I don't have very much room, so I have to use vacs and masks and I do have an air purifier mounted above my saw.
