Japanesse Lantern

Not finished yet. Trying to decide if I should put something inside to hide the bulb. The bolts on top are just to hold it together while the glue dries. Will probably stain natural. Any ideas?

You can put plexiglas behind it (if it isn't too late and already glued) If you get clear, you can use fine steel wool to "frost" the plexiglas. Just buff it and it will look frosted and hide the bulb.
The lantern is really beautiful!

Ditto to what Sheila said. You could also use rice paper, but the plexiglass will outlast it.

I like that one!! Gives me another idea.
You might also consider a colored plexiglass. I think that blue or red or even yellow would be very attractive.

That lantern is going to look absolutly beautiful when done. The plexiglass idea is a great one. Looking forward to seeing it totally complete.

For my 'tea lights' I found that 'Parchment' paper is a good 'diffuser'!
It is available in several muted colors.
Really neat lamp!

hey Towdude, The Plexiglas idea is a good one, but you might consider a light bulb that flickers. It will make it look more like a candle lantern.
Excellent cutting on the lantern. Is it your pattern?

thanks for the ideas. the pattern belongs to Pedro Lopez (finescrollsaw.com) I have used plastic light panels in the past for covering but was looking for something different. I will give the plexiglass idea a try. I did not glue the top on so I could have access to change the bulb. Mike
