Bad luck...
« on: May 12, 2015, 01:27:58 pm »
Last Monday (May 4th) my left index finger had an encounter with the blade of the table saw.....
I'll spare you most details, but wasn't a nice thing to see that finger tip.
Not sure how it happened, but reminiscing I might have just tipped the blade with my nail and was caught into the spinning blade.
So in a split second I had a split finger...  :-\
Bones broken, most of the nail gone...
Went to the hospital, doctors did stitch it for one hour.
healing is doing OK, although yesterday some parts seemed to turned black.
have to wait if this is bad or that good tissue will grow underneath.
today is the first visit to the forum again, want to let you know.

For the thrill-seekers I did add some pics...   8)

Sorry to hear about your bad luck, but at least you still have the finger.  Three years ago this July I had a accident, wasn't in the workshop, but lost the end digit of 2 fingers on my right hand and I am right handed.  Oh well life goes on. :)

Marcel I am sorry that your have been injured.  You got very lucky and did not lose the finger.  I have several people that I have known over the years that were not so lucky.  Keep a positive attitude and keep safe.

Marcel,

Wishing you a Speedy & Full Recovery !!  My Dad (R.I.P.) used to comment: "As long as you don't end up buying flowers for the guys funeral, it's not that bad."  I share his feelings.  SOMEDAY this too shall pass.

Sorry to hear about your accident.  You might want to get a metal guard for that finger as I found that surely helped.

So very sorry to hear about your finger.  Praise God, it could have been so much worse.  I've lost 2 dentists over the years to table saws.  I hope all heals well.  Take care.

Sorry to hear of your injury, but relieved it isn't worse!  I am a member of a local woodworking guild and know a few people with abbreviated fingers.  I've been lucky myself so far.  One member of our guild lost the tips of 3 fingers, only to sever them again a few years later. Wishing you a quick recovery!

Somehow I think she meant to spell "digits", as in fingers.  I am also sorry to hear about your accident Marcellarius and I hope for a speedy and well recovery. :)

Sorry to hear that Marcellarius.

When I cut my fingers on the table saw many years ago I was told by the doctor to soak them in hydrogen peroxide daily.

Maybe Julie's dentists were woodworkers as well who had accidents and could not do dentistry for a time or forever?

Man, I'd hate to see what the saw looks like.

BTW - Maybe they were ObamaCare dentists and figured they could make more money making sawdust.
