Hegner broke down
« on: March 03, 2014, 01:49:23 pm »
well you all,
tonight happened what I thought was impossible.
My Hegner broke down.
just gave it a little oil on the bearings of the arms, did blow of some dust and turned it back on....
dead.....
no sign of live whatsoever.....

checked the electrics, no problem there.

so I might guess blowing out the dust in the engine fan must have something to do with it?

so before I start dismantling the whole thing, I would like some thoughts of you saw guru's....

PLEASE HELP!!

I've heard that sawdust can be hard on a saw's power switch. Do you see voltage getting to the motor or just to the line side of the switch? Maybe you blew the dust into the switch and it's preventing it from closing?

might be the issue, will consider that with the first to open.
saw doesn't react in any way.
can click the switch. nothing happens.

I was afraid that I did blew dust into the motor.
did blew of the dust of/in the motor fan cover....
did do that number of times, never had a problem....

Hi Good Buddy....When I first got my Hegner from my Brother.  IT WOULD NOT TURN ON!!!!  Boy I sure felt BAD, but made that first call to AMI and she guided me to the
ON/OFF SWITCH....  Being careful I pried the Rubber dust protector off and I couldn't believe how much FINE SAWDUST that had accumulated inside.  Cleaned it out and Blew it clean.  Snapped cover on and....You guessed it.  And its still running.  :+}

I have had my Hegner for quite a while, never a problem.  But the phone number is 1 800 727 6553.  Other folks who have had problems say they are good.  Good Luck

It was the power switch!

Also got a reaction from the Hegner service team that I should "hot wire" the power switch (with the necessary precautions of course!) to be sure it was the switch.
and luckily it was.
blew out the switch, no results...  :-[
did drench the switch with an electric contact cleaning spray and then blew out the residue.
let it dry and.... as new!

if you have the same issue, be sure when mounting back together everything, you look that the two wires from the speed control are well connected. these are short and one did came of. luckily I noticed before installing all back together.

so everyone thanks for the input and help!
