"Stormy Weather".....
« on: May 31, 2013, 10:02:35 pm »
I used to love hearing Lena Horne sing that song but this weather crap is getting kinda old!

We just dodged the bullet again here in St. Peters but areas all around St. Louis got hit yet again.
Have not heard any fatality reports but one of the Casinos got hit and a Holiday Inn about 8 miles east of me also.
It must be my nasty nature but the thing got 10 miles west of me and split in two and went around us.
Of course I had two cats snuggled in my lap during the whole thing.
AND there is another line about 100 mis. west headed our way about midnight!
Welcome to "Tornado Alley"!

Glad you came through it in one piece, GB.  All's well on the south side of St. Louis (at least my little part of it).  Plenty of rain but that's about it.

Just before your posting, I was sitting here listening to the tornado siren and lots of thunder and lightening.  Along with that we got some hail, a lot of wind and 3.5" of rain.  Sure doesn't make for a peaceful sleeping night.

Thought about you when I heard Tornado's in Missouri.  And especially when I
heard that The Cardinal game was cancelled.  Happy to hear your OK....

Just Curious....Why do families stay in Tornado Alley areas?  We have a similar
area here where Tornadoes have came thru the same area a few times, but its always rebuilding their homes.  Anyway....  Danny  :+}

Danny...every area has its 'problems'!
We have people who live in areas prone to flooding, it floods and they get wet and turn right around and rebuild and go on.
My daughter lives in Littleton, CO and has a fairly steep driveway, got tired of shoveling snow so put a radiant heating system in when they replaced the driveway.
Folks in FL live with hurricane threats and lots of bugs and crawly critters. My cousin lives in Midland, TX and puts up with heat, constant wind and dust.
We live where we love to live!
AND we have the Cardinals, a world class zoo that is FREE to visit, FOUR seasons to the year, but most important we have very deep ROOTS!

Everybody lives someplace and everyplace has it's own problems some of the time.
Even sunny southern California has wildfires and mudslides.
Living in the heartland of the country (central Kansas) I know all about tornados, blizzards, heat waves, floods and some of the driest land in the country but, I wouldn't live anyplace else.  ;)
The thing is, that with the information highway and news media that we have today, we can hear more about it and faster than ever before and there is a tendency to report the worst the most.

Glad it missed you, it missed my daughter as well who is in Florida this week so wasn't there to experience it.  Neighbors said all is ok at her house.

It is called "Territoryiality". The attachment one has for the place where they were born. I would not consider living long term any where else. We all have this sense of belonging to the area.

GB you are right.......All the rain is depressing. Last year we were starving for rain now we have more than we need. I would build a storm shelter but my new basement swimming pool is more than I can handle.
