The Coffee Shop / I received my ornaments from Iowa!

Hi, everyone!  Yesterday I received two beautiful ornaments that were sent to me by geneVG in Iowa!  One is a lovely filigree angel made of maple and the other is a beautiful sleigh made of filigree walnut. Both have a soft and satiny finish on them! They are so awesome! Thank you so much, Gene for the lovely ornaments you sent! I will certainly cherish them always!

I have a customer who is looking for a pattern of a cross with a butterfly.  Does anyone here know of a pattern like that?  Please let me know if you do so I can pass on the information.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Looking for a wood supplier in the Ohio area

Hi everyone!  I had a customer of mine from Ohio ask me where he could get some good hardwood for scroll sawing.  I didn't even know that Sloan's doesn't sell it anymore (DUH to me!!) In fairness, I have been here in Canada for eight years and haven't purchased any from the states.

Anyway . . . do any of you know of a good supplier that you can recommend?  The wood needs to be dressed and 'nearly' ready for scroll sawing (no planing or resawing, but some sanding will be OK)

General Scroll Saw Talk / Ornament Exchange Received from Torsten!

Hi, Everyone!  I posted this on the Coffee Shop tab but I wanted to post it here too.  I just wanted to show off the beautiful ornaments I received from Torsten! He was my exchange partner for this year's ornament exchange.  I think they are so awesome!  He sent a little stand up Christmas tree, a beautiful flowing angel, a momma and baby deer and a lovely little heart that would make a wonderful pendant.

Thank you so much Torsten for the lovely variety of ornaments.  I have the tree on my desk in front of me and every time I look at it I smile!     It is so much fun to get such a nice package! 

Thanks to Russ too for coordinating the event so we can all enjoy each other's work.  We all really appreciate it!

Brag Forum / Some New Ornaments I designed

Hi, everyone. 

I just finished designing these new ornaments and I am really proud of them.  They are little self-framing designs and can be made as ornaments or plaques.  I made two sets of each design.  One set is made of Maple and finished with mineral oil and spray shellac and the other set is made of Baltic birch plywood and I used acrylic paint on the frames.  I sponged the paint on with a small sea sponge and then when it was dry, I added a light layer of Gold Metallic sponged on in the same manner.  They were fast and easy to do that way and I didn't even need a paintbrush.

Brag Forum / Antique Horse Pull Toy Replica Pattern

Hi, Everyone!  I just finished designing this new pattern and I thought I would show it to you all. It is a little different than my usual stuff I do, but it was really fun and I enjoyed it a lot.
It is a replica of a Antique Horse Pull Toy.  It stands approximately 8" tall and is made of oak.  The wheels are scrolled and the horses body is shaped with a Dremel.  I used Jute string for the tail and mane.  I hope you like it.  I plan on making a series of vintage toys such as this in the very near future.  Thanks for looking!

I asked Steve and he said it was OK to post this here. This has been a wonderful year!  Early on it 2010 I found this forum and met all of you wonderful people, many who are my friends.  Being a part of this group has bee so much fun! I learned a lot and got to see some awesome projects.

I want to say MERRY CHRISTMAS to all!  Have a SAFE, HEALTHY and HAPPY NEW YEAR!  (Let's all make some sawdust!)

Brag Forum / I Received My Ornaments From The Exchange!

I was so excited and thrilled when I received these beautiful ornaments from Dan Eklund from the exchange.  They are really incredible!  He sent me a wonderful dimensional Christmas tree, a beautiful "Peace" word art ornament, and a dimensional cactus ornament that will make me think of him in Arizona every time I look at it.  Thank you so much, Dan for the wonderful gifts! 

I love this forum and all the great people in it.  Thanks too Russ for organizing the exchange and all the work and time you put into it to make it run smoothly.  It is such a treat for us all to receive these beautiful treasures made by our friends and fellow woodworkers!

Brag Forum / New Candle Tray and Charms for Halloween

Hi, everyone! I just finished posting my latest candle tray and charm set for Halloween.  It is called Spooky Pumpkins.  I made it out of padauk and used spray shellac over oil for the finish on it.  This is the natural color of the wood.  The pattern is available on my site if anyone is interested.  Thanks so much for looking!
