General Scroll Saw Talk / What Glue?
« on: December 05, 2019, 09:44:44 am »
What do you all recommend for a glue that will be used on something that has outside exposure?
In other words what glue holds up under sun, rain, cold and snow?

Thanks.

That's a wonderful start.  Thanks, Daveo!

Thanks, Don, but I did not post a picture.  I was just trying to describe what I saw in a photo.  Thanks for your input, though.  I will also search for some silhouettes.

Hi All,

Had a request to make a beaver-shaped sign.  The example photo I was shown, and would like to kinda copy, was metal, about 11-15 inches tall, and was affixed to a chain link fence.  Nothing fancy, not a lot of detail needed, but want the shape to be recognizable and large enough to also accommodate some address/lot numbers.

Anyone seen anything similar?

Have kinda checked on line for some illustrations that maybe would suffice, but would feel much better with the guidance of a real pattern.

Many thanks.

The Coffee Shop / Re: Heritage Wood Link?

Ah oh!  Too bad, I just ordered some nice bits of scroll wood from them earlier this year.  They had a large variety.
Also ordered from Ochooch hardwoods at the same time.  Received Ochooch order in a week's time and it took Heritage about 3 weeks, so had decided to do future ordering from Ochooch (https://ocoochhardwoods.com) when I was in a hurry.  :P

Thanks, Norm.  That's kinda the status quo, which will look well.  Just curious if there were any other variations.  Appreciate the reply.   :)

General Scroll Saw Talk / Has Anyone Made Signs...?

...as in Steve's pattern http://www.stevedgood.com/signs.pdf

I'm cutting some of them out and wasn't sure how to finish with colors or stain on front or backer board or what?  Just looking for something eye catching...thought they were clever.

Would love to see some samples if anyone has done them or hear about recommendations.

Nice looking holders!  You would think something like this would be a big seller with everyone who walks and breathes has a cell phone.

I made a few awhile back, along with some tablet holders.  Tried to use popular themes, like flowers, horses, patriotic, things I thought would be most appealing...however, no takers.

Hope you have many more sales!

If a '56 or '57 is close enough, they are in Steve's free patterns.

You really want this on purpose?  Looks like a lot of work to me.   ;D

Sorry, Judy, I've gone through the woodworking sites I know of, and Scroller was the only one that had something close to it, but not near as large.

Hope something turns up for you.

Amazon is known to do this, they saw you look at it and not buy it, then hoping you go back they raise the price a little knowing you came back to it and now want to buy it. Go back again will see it decrease.

Really!?!  Well, that seems backwards to me.  If they want me to buy it, they should have lowered it in the first place, to my way of thinking.  However, since they have a little more cash than I do, I guess they know what they're doing.

I believe it's now cheaper because the selection is from China and not sold or sponsored by Amazon as the initial one was.

Thanks, Karl, I did see those.  Thank you.

After reading Steve's blog this morning I checked out the little fan he was wearing.  It did look somewhat practical so I checked it out on the Amazon link.  Just as he said, sold for $11.99.  Okay, that's a possibility.
Put it aside and thought more about it and decided later today to order a couple.
Back to the Amazon link...interesting, price increase.  Now is selling for $12.99.    :(
Does that mean too many of us looked at it? :o

Real glass for the windows!?!  Wow!  So nicely done. It must come with power steering, too?  ;)
It is beautiful, I'm sure your Mrs. is delighted.

Definitely.  Fortunately, the scroll saw drowns out my singing.

What a nice collection, Jeff!  I enjoyed all the airplane, wolf, horse and cowboy and cowgirl selections and the 2A pattern was nicely done, also.  I did that style pattern with the verse from Isaiah about the eagles.  The one you did with the eagle looked to delicate for me to tackle, well done!  Looking forward to your next 20 year video!  :)
