Pattern Requests. / Spiral Apple
« on: October 03, 2010, 06:05:57 pm »
Hey guys,  I can't find my pattern for a spiral bowl shaped like an apple.  I've got one, I made several but just cannot find the pattern.  Now I've got a request and no pattern.  Does anyone have one or know where I can get one?  I cannot remember if I got it out of a book or not.  Any help would be appreciated...Thanks...julie

General Scroll Saw Talk / Help - sheets of laminent
« on: September 29, 2010, 08:07:17 pm »
My neighbor just pulled up with a rack that holds 4 X 8 sheets of laminent about half full.  The rack is 4 1/2 feet X 8 1/2 feet X 3 1/2 feet tall and has slots for 15 different styles of laminent.  There is a ton of it by scrollsaw standards.  I have no idea what to do with it.  Suggestions???  If I take it, what on earth am I going to make out of it.  The sheets are a little over 1/16" thick.  Some look like countertop and many look like wood grain.  Really pretty, but what whould you do with it?

General Scroll Saw Talk / Looking for the right Planer
« on: September 12, 2010, 08:23:56 am »
I have been looking at planers for a while and am having difficulty finding one that will plane down to 1/4 or 1/8.  The guy that planes my boards has one that the specs say 5/16 but he has no problem going smaller.  What do you use and how thin will it go.  Also, need to know the minimum stock length.

General Scroll Saw Talk / posting help
« on: August 05, 2010, 03:16:42 pm »
I am obviously computer challenged.  I can't seem to post any pictures w/ comentary.  I have been a member since the beginning and cannot post a picture.  The forum always comes back with the message "the file is too big".  I know one picture and a short comment should go through.  I see everyone else posting multiple pictures and long commentary and it works for them.  What the Heck am I doing wrong?

Every time I try to post a picture and comment - it tells me my file is too big.  I know others post multiple pics and comments much larger than what I'm trying to do.  What am I doing wrong?

General Scroll Saw Talk / Pattern Instructions
« on: July 21, 2010, 07:45:06 am »
Sheila replied to Becky on welcome to the nut house post about her instructions.  Personally, I find the instructions to Sheila's patterns a welcome addition.  Whether you are a beginner or advanced scroller, knowing what the artist had in mind or the methodology used in creating a piece is invaluable.  I often use these instructions on a step by step basis the first time I cut a pattern to insure the proper results.  Then modify my method accordingly.

Sheila's instruction are, in fact, step-by-step.  From the basics of sanding both sides of the board to the method of assembly and finishing.  She also provides her phone # and web address on her patterns if you have any questions.  I have cut many of  her patterns and highly recommend her work.

Thanks for the projects Sheila - keep 'em coming.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Little trees, Little trees
« on: July 21, 2010, 07:24:33 am »
For Sheila, Cherie and any one else who has cut Sheila's Arrow Head Ornaments.  I have cut many of these ornaments and just cannot throw out the "Little trees" left over from the center of the arrowhead.  I have a gallon ice cream bucket full of little trees.  I have been trying to come up with different things to do with the little trees and just have not been able to come up with a great project to use them for.  My bucket runneth over!  Any suggestions?
