General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: delta 40-694
« on: April 24, 2017, 10:42:18 am »
I own a Delta 40-690, I know that's not the one you are talking about, but the motor (+/- $300.00) burned out and I tried factory service. You may know that Delta has gone out of scroll saw business and DeWalt seems to be out also. So the question is what saw is available in the $500 dollar range that is fixable,  available, and in business.

I took a chance and ordered chucks from Dewalt, they seem to work just fine.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Blade Chuck
« on: January 26, 2017, 04:04:08 pm »
On a recent blog, Steve talked about replacing the lower blade chuck on his Dewalt. I have been having the same problem with blade slipping on my Delta, and Delta seems to be trying their best not to support their saws after selling them. They have DISCONTINUED carrying that blade chuck. hmmm
My request is that the Dewalt chuck pictured on their web site appears to be the same as the Delta's (mod 40-690) chuck. Has anyone replaced the Delta chuck with the Dewalt chuck?

I have the version 1 catalog.
To up date there is suppose to be a "Check for update" line or something like that.
Not on my screen, any suggestions??

Forget Control.  Just use P
Control P prints and P centers by the way this is CoralDraw we are talking about.

24
Try using Ctrl P.
Draw the circle and center it on the page with "Control P" it should the be centered. Now any dot or small circle and again using Ctrl P should mark the center.
May be an easier way but it works for me.

In my humble opinion, Birds of paradise, does appear scroll saw friendly.  Try "WordArt" it may be what you need.

I looked at the new catalog and love it. So much easier to find an idea or a pattern.

As always there is the one guy who has to offer suggestions. ME.

The category index should be in alphabetical order rather than the random order it is in now.

One problem/glitch is  the PDF page for the pattern "Wishin I was Fishin" seems to be inoperative.

Great Job and the designer is a keeper, even if does cost you a daughter.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Hanging my work
« on: January 31, 2015, 05:02:59 pm »
Not sure what you are asking for, but if I am hanging a project it really depends on material and size. Small plaques, I normally use a manufactured metal hanger. Real small you may need a eye screw or even just a piece of string glued in a hole. I just finished a 12" diameter plaque and used the keyhole bit on my router.  Even just a hole for a screw will work some times.
Good luck

General Scroll Saw Talk / Attaching Patterns
« on: January 19, 2015, 02:23:22 pm »
I have used the blue painters tape and spray glue method for years in applying patterns and it has always done exactly what was required. Recently, I went to Lowes (big box store) to replenish the tape. I have used 3M and was happy with it. I picked up a roll and started a new project. The tape held, but the spray glue did not. After a long fight, I realized that dummy (me) had bought a roll of blue DUCT tape instead of painters tape. Side by Side on the shelf. Duct tape will NOT work and almost destroyed the wood while trying to get it off. Back to the store and bought a roll of blue painters tape manufactured by Blue Hawk. Worked better but still had problems with the spray sticking. Today bought 3M Blue Painters tape and am completely happy. (poorer but happy) You need to try new things, but sticking to what makes you happy is best.

The little bend signifies the top of the blade.  Very handy on the smaller toothed blades.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Removing router bits
« on: June 30, 2014, 03:39:12 pm »
I was having problems with router bits getting stuck in the router. I also fish and a lure that I use is called a "grub" it is made of a rubber type material available at most Wal-Marts and bait and tackle stores. I cut off a 1/4" piece and placed it into the router chuck. All problems with the bits are gone. I should point out that the router is mounted in a table.
