I am looking for a nice airplane pattern for one of those wind things.  Anyone have one?

Those are real easy to make.  Steve has a plane pattern http://www.stevedgood.com/fighterplane.pdf which you can easily modify to make one of the whirlygigs.  You may need to make the propeller bigger and determine the center point so that you can make it pivot in the wind.  This however is a good start.

There is one free plan here http://scrollsawer.com/2009/08/28/airplane-whirligig/
and if you do a search for WHIRLIGIG you may find other patterns or just some photos
to help you design your own.
