General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Spindle Sanders
« on: March 30, 2012, 11:43:26 am »
Louis, I have a Ridgid combo sander; goes from a belt sander to a spindle sander.  I have been using it for 6 years and I like it; have used it for flat work, for shaping intarsia, for inside and outside curves.  The spindles are easy to change out for different diameters, the belt is easy to remove and change papere grits.  All in all I would buy it again.

Hi, I bought a Costco secretary chair, kept the arms off and it is adjustable to my needed height - cost a few bucks, but I would rather be comforable.

Boy I certainly am interested in a searchable data base; as you I am always trying to remember where I saw that pattern.

Like Sheila I use a spray from the can; easy to use, quick and durable for the generally small projects I cut.

Pattern Requests. / Re: A Little Halloween Boo

Hi Russ, I have adapted the pattern to add a grandson name at the bottom of each one.  I am using 1/4" BB, have painted the bat, pumpkins, and gost the appropriate colors, but plan on using glow paint for the gost and for the names.

Pattern works well and is easy to cut - thanks!!

I am looking for simple a basic scroll saw pattern of a hand holding a quill.  I intend to cut it into the front of one of Steve's Busness Card Holders for my daughter.

Will try specialty hobby shop and see if they sell 1/16"; our Michaels did, but not reliable so.  Will ask if they take special orders.

Regarding the back being to thin, not so, at least in my experience of making them.  Must confess they have not been in actual use.  3/8" just seemed to bulky, but will try a sample and see.

I have been seaching the postings for "thin" B&B, but I can not find anything related to 1/16" B&B.  Sloan's is out and I am trying to find an other source for my Chirstmas gifts.

I have been making the Business Card Holder Steve published a few weeks ago using 1/16" B&B for the back.  None of the ones I have found in the postings sell anything less than 1/8"

Any suggestions?

Gentlemen, your suggestions are very welcomed!  Lee Valley has just what I was looking for; will visit Peachtree to see what they have.  A special thanks to Rapid Roger regarding thinking out of the box; I like the idea of re-tasking the refridge magnets - thanks.

Does any one have any suggestions as to where I can find the small rare earth magnets or for that matter any small magnets that can be used for box lids? SMALL, I mean 1/8" diameter; such as you would find in those unfinished boxes sold at "Michaels" or other box craft stores.

Thank you for your help!
