Hey Norm, we are almost neighbours - sort of.  Grew up in Birch Hills and still believe that Saskatchewan, especially our part, is the best place to live.  (And I don't want to start a debate - to each his own.)

Have a god day everyone.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Steve's pattern June 11 - safety suggestion
« on: June 11, 2017, 09:45:09 am »
Steve's pattern had an excellent safety suggestion about resawing on the table saw, one that I hadn't thought of.  http://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.ca/

He warned that, when you have to flip the board make the second cut, you should put a shim on the kerf to prevent  kick-back.  Makes sense - I've done this without the shim but will not do it anymore.

Thanks Steve.

Hi Judy.  You are right, the Coffee Shop has been quiet lately.

I've been around the forum but haven't been doing a lot of sawing.  Actually not doing much of anything (retirement is nice) and recently haven't found anything I wanted to post in this part of the forum.

We all need to get posting - use it or loose it?

Very nice work.  I like the way the feet rotate as he "runs" - just like they do in the cartoons.

Jerry, I seem to recall that the tip worked in Firefox under Windows 7.  Without starting a fight with anyone, I haven't used Internet Explorer.

The best was to find out is to try it.

In Firefox, and I think other browsers, CTRL/plus will enlarge the fonts and images, CTRL/minus will reduce, and CTRL/zero will return to 100%.  It's the fastest way to change the zoom.

Spirithorse, I'm not asking for a pattern - never thought it might be construed as a pattern request.  I was asking the question many men ask at least once in their lives.

I notice none of our lady members have commented.   ;D ;D ;D

Can anyone help with this?

I did the air change when I removed the winter tires and put on the summer tires.  All my tires are on rims so the winter air stays in the winter tires and the summer air stays in the summer tires.

Not sure if the turn signal lube change is necessary.  I heard that the manufacturers are now using an all-season lube.

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

You can make your own, but can you hook up a laser attachment to burn a line?   ;D ;D

The marking gauge was first shown on April 1.

Your comment about square holes reminded me that I had seen a drill that would make square holes.  Professor Google found the examples and I remembered mortising bits so I had to show what I found.   ;D

Don't think they come in really small sizes, but Lee Valley has a 1/4" mortising bit.  The notepad I'm working on has 3/16" square holes - close but no cigar.  Maybe a larger notepad could use 1.4" holes.
