Grampa's Rainy Day
« on: May 02, 2011, 12:26:12 am »
This pattern is from Grampa Paul. I started cutting it last weekend. I have been busy, so only cut a few pieces at a time here and there through out this week. I have cut in the rain, snow and bright sunshine. It is a fitting pattern for the weather lately.

I stack cut 3 from 1/8" plywood. While I was cutting part of the hat broke on the bottom piece. I don't have a need for the bottom cutting, but I thought I might be able to save it by cutting the whole hat out. I am not sure if I like it or not, what do you think? Is the second one a creative design element or firewood?

I think the second one looks just as good as the first. So the hat is a different colour/design....no big deal IMHO and not obvious that it broke in any way.

What counts is what you think, you are the final judge.
If you hadn't mentioned it, it's likely no one would notice.
It's the girl's hat and they frequently are different than boy's hats.

As gabby said.
Until I read all your post I thought you had cut it differently.
I like both, whom ever receives the bottom one will never know , cause the pattern has been removed. I wont tell.  ;D ;) ;)

Looks great, nice work. You really don't notice it. My only suggestion would be to cut the other one out to make them look alike.  :)

The true beauty in it is that only the artist knows once the pattern comes off.  They both look great.

Awesome job Mrsn! Both look fantastic, just chaulk it up to creative expression, no one would have known it but you. Keep 'em both they look great.

Very nice Katie. I think they both look fine! At the very least, you can hang it in your shop for your own pleasure!

They both are great, if you didn't see them side by side, no one would have known that the second one was a boo-boo. I agree with GB, Artistic License can be a wonderful thing when needed.

They both look great Katie!  Pattern variations are my specialty!  No two cuttings ever come out alike! ;)
