Baskets with handles
« on: August 13, 2016, 07:15:39 pm »
There is a post with a pattern on SSW.  There is a pattern and a video how to assemble.

On version 2 I used pegs to hold handles instead of dowels and I drilled a 18degree starter hole.

Made 2 so far in cherry with tung oil finish.

Those look great Don.  They will be well used I am sure.  Thanks for sharing them with us.

Excellent work. Looks like a complex assembly with the rings and the verticals. Get a bunch made for the Easter Season!

Really looks great. I made smaller baskets by using 6mm boards and stack cutting

Thanks for the comments.

Once you have done one they are easy.  I made another the other day but out of cedar and it was a problem in that the cedar broke a couple of times as the grain is wide and delicate on the ends.  You have to be very careful but it glued back together nicely and the only person that know is me.

I was trying to do a sample so that I could run a session at our club but now I need to get some other hardwood.  I also found out there is a book by Monroe Dutcher with more patterns and so I ordered and will wait till that arrives and hopefully make some different styles.
