First sale of 2016
« on: June 25, 2016, 02:50:18 pm »
I had my first sale of the year today. A local farmers market. 9AM- Noon. Great sales. Over two times my last years average at this venue. Almost twenty times my space rent. First sale of the year there, is always good. Nice day 88? at noon. Breezy. Sold seven band saw boxes and seven boxes with inlaid images in the lids.. Also sold a bunch of toys and even some crosses. Oh yes, two canes and two stars. I also got one special order. I will be going to this farmers market every Sat all summer long. Well, I will miss a few but will go there whenever I can.

Congrats!  Always nice to have some money coming in to make up for all we seem to spend on this "hobby".

Congratulations Jim.  Considering the quality of your work this is not surprising.  Well done.  Thanks for sharing this with us as it gives pointers to the rest of us... Any pics of the layout?

This is Great Jim, but I also feel as DW does.  Your work speaks Quality.  Appreciating people know this

No photos this time.  I just have eight four foot long tables, arranged in a horse shoe arrangement, no tablecloths, with the product setting on them.  I have a few signs with prices on them.  Simple as that.  This works as well as displays I have made and used in the past.  I now just sign up for two spaces and can fit all my stuff on the eight tables easily.  This sale only lasts for three hours, so the less effort in set up, the better for me.

That is great Jim! I have thought about setting up at our farmer's market here in Paris. Not a complete set up, but, as you did, just making a horse shoe from 3 tables and just laying my items on the tables. Too much work taking canopy and grid panels, etc. for just a few hours. Probably not passed noon since here in NE Texas 100 deg. is upon us!LOL

Toneman;  I do set up a canopy because here in Lubbock it often hits 100? in the summer.

I missed three of these farmers markets this year.  My average gross sales this year are more than double last years average.
 (Go figure).
I have started to offer band saw boxes this year and priced them a bit higher than my other boxes.

Just cannot figure out the sales market Jim! I have my items inside an antique and craft mall downtown Paris and one month is great and the next sell just enough to pay my rent.  Just hoping the Christmas shows are good this year! Hope you sell a ton of boxes!
