Merry Christmas
« on: December 25, 2015, 10:01:12 am »
Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year to each and everyone here on the forum, from my family to yours... Russ

If you have a little time this might give you a little chuckle or two.
If you remember I changed the lyrics to a Christmas song several years ago for those of us who scroll.
Steve posted the new lyrics on his blog. This year I decided to take it to the next level so I hope you enjoy.

That was great!  Glad someone else isn't afraid to say Merry Christmas.  One of the members of the Northwest Corner Woodworkers Association that hubby Paul and I belong to sent a poem his wife wrote and I wish I could attach it for all to see.  She writes one each year, but this was her best yet.  Talks about how it's become almost taboo to say Merry Christmas for fear of offending someone.

Hope yours is a blessed Christmas and you have the best ever New Year.

Great job, Russ,
Thank you very much, Merry Christmas, and God Bless!

Nancy,
I hope you can get permission to post the poem.
God Bless! Spirithorse

I obtained permission from the author, Peggy Duehning, to share her poem.  It's rather long, but worth the read.

This is the Christmas season
People worldwide hold dear.
When strangers greet each other
With smiles and welcoming cheer.

Why did saying "Merry Christmas"
Become such a terrible thing?
Carols about the Christ child
Are widely banned to sing.

When we wish you a Merry Christmas
It is a heartfelt greeting.
We are expressing our jubilation
To those whom we are meeting.

Because God loved us so much
His only Son was born that holy night.
And with that love came salvation,
A dark world introduced to the Light.

This holiday is named Christmas,
Not Saint Nick's or Santa's Day
It is a time of celebrating
Our savior's earthly birthday.

When we say Merry Christmas
We say it to share our joy,
Not to preach a sermon
Nor to offend or annoy.

You may answer back as you wish,
Happy Hanukkah or Happy Holiday.
At least we are exchanging glad tiding
Each in our individual way.

We look forward to this special day
All the year through
When we will cheerfully proclaim
Merry Christmas to you!

Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Merry Christmas to all my Scrollsaw family!
Hope you enjoyed all gifts and foods.
Remember this party started with the first 5 characters...
And wouldn't be a party without that first part.
