Just another shapes board.
« on: September 08, 2013, 01:32:13 pm »
Made another of these, used some different shapes, and some of the same.

Hope all are having a nice day.

No Ray, it was at one time, but since the blocks are slightly thicker than 3/4", I planed the plate down to about 7/16", that way the small hands have enough block to grab a hold of to remove.

I might have to try your suggestions as well.  Will see if anyone want another of these.

Nicely done.  You knew someone would ask for the pattern...So   Please.  I made 2 of them today and just made them out of 1/4" ply with a 1/8" backer.  Look fine, child can't get a hold of the pieces without turning it over though..may consider cutting the pieces out of something thicker next time hated to waste the wood.

Sorry no pics yet paint is drying.

Dunk - this one is like yours but with a 5/8" long piece of 5/16" dowel added to the center of each piece. The pieces were drilled with a 5/16 bit, then the short dowel was glued in. Not a lot sticking out, but enough for small fingers to grip.
. The shapes are the cut-outs from the top 1/4" BB Ply, then sanded to give a little more clearance to make it easier for kids to fit. Watercolor paint gives an antique look. I'm thinking about mounting it like a picture on the wall.

That turned out nice Ray...I just cut my pieces out using a #5 FD UR blade and that seems to give plenty of clearance for removal of the pieces.
