White Pine and Black Walnut Box
« on: October 20, 2012, 01:50:35 pm »
This box was cut from white pine and black walnut.  The finish is shellac.   I notched the corners at 3/4 of an inch with the scrollsaw then glued in 3/4 square blocks of black walnut.  It is 3 x 5"

Very nice. I still have to do my first box of any sort (out of wood). I love the contrast you used here. I plan on making my wife a heart shaped box (valentine heart not real heart) for Valentines Day. Was thinking of using purple heart wood, but cant find any at 1/8 in thickness for a decent price the size I need it to be. Well sorry for rambling on...I think you did a very nice job and thanks for sharing.
