Made my first one many months ago and entered it in too the Northeast Arkansas Fair and won first place , received a 8 piece order and just got them finished for Christmas presents for a Customer . Used 1/8" Baltic Birch Plywood and 1/4" Walnut material for the top and base of this project . Don't let this project fool you in making multiples it is a lot of work . It's 7 layers to glue together and your cuts will need to be Percise if not they'll be more sanding involved . These have several layers of lacquer finish with several sandings in between coats .

Nice, Marshall!
And you're right, the little scenes are big work! I made a couple last year. Painted the last layer dark blue so it would appear the whole scene against a night sky on one of them.
Congrats on your ribbon!
