Craftsman 18" model 113.207600 ?
« on: September 07, 2011, 02:16:16 pm »
Hi Folks, I was given this saw and wondered if anyone has ever used one? I'm not sure how old it is. I estimate maybe 10 years or more? I tried it just to see if it worked and it seemed to do alright. It has a table that tilts both directions and accepts pin or straight blades so I figured if it's that old and has these features it couldn't be all bad? Maybe??  I'm new to scrolling and didn't want to spend a lot of money to try out the hobby. I'm sure it's nothing like what they make now but to start I just wanted to make some wood toys. I found the user manual for free online but I haven't read it yet. So if you would please give me your input on it's strengths (if there are any) and its faults. Thanks Richard

I haven't had that particular model, however if you go to this site: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Craftsman-Parts/Saw-Parts/Model-113207600/0247/0744440/00001515/00001?blt=06&prst=0&shdMod=113207600  You can view the parts diagram and order a manual.  From what I can see it appears that the arm tilts rather than the table which is particular to only one brand I am aware of.  Anyway if it accepts pinless blades and runs, it is worth trying out regardless.  You might want to take a look at the tutorials if you need help getting started.  You have found a great site!  There is a wealth of information available here for free.
By the way, is KM5WX your ham callsign?  If so, mine is WD4OAQ.

Hi Richard and welcome to the forum.  Grab a chunk of wood and give it a try.  Regardless of how great or poor a saw is, I have seen amazing work come out of both.  Start with good blades from either Mike's workshop (Flying Dutchman) or Seyco (Olson). Check out some of the tutorials on Steve's site and jump in.  Glad you joined us.
