Blades

As a beginner I use whatever scroll saw blades I can get my hands on, usually from the big box stores, and they work fairly well. But now I want to concentrate on getting better at scrolling.

I peruse my scrolling catalogs and they have everything from #3/0 to #12 and everything in between.

For overall general purpose blades, what type of blade do you suggest? I cut everything from 1/8 inch birch plywood to 13/16 oak and cyprus solid wood.

Flying Dutchman Blades from "Mike's Workshop"....http://www.mikesworkshop.com/index.htm

Read through the website and then call Mike and get the best 'blade advice' in the world!

He also has a 'Sampler Pack' that he will send to give you some practice with a few of the different varieties.

As a 'beginner' stay away from the "Spiral" blades until you get the hang of the way this all works.

NO ONE can give you better advice in a friendlier way than Mike Morlach!

I second the motion with the replies above. Though I'm far from being a professional scroller, it's nothing but "Flying Dutchman blades from Mike's Workshop" for me. Super guy to deal with.
