These boxes are made of pine and measure 8"x6"x3" outside dimensions. The grey in the kitten is corian. This was my first use of corian. Both images are inlaid into the hinged lid.

I have been making a lot of compound cut figures using a pattern from Diana Thompson's book.  I altered the pattern a bit to make it more robust so it can be used as a toy.  Originally designed as an ornament.
The halo is a wooden toy wheel.3/4" drilled out a bit.  Total height is 4 1/4" made from a two by four.

I have twisted a blade 90° to make a cut that the throat of my saw wold not allow.  I twisted it , before tensioning, using two pairs of pliers at the same time.  I have also cut off the bottom 3/4" of a dull blade and then used the unused teeth closer to the middle of the blade.

No I do not  draw well, so I applied the pattern, from the internet, using carbon paper.

After cutting this out on the scroll saw you have to make the tail narrower,  I do it by sanding it to size using my 1/2"rotary tool (Like a Dremel)  Adjust this pattern so the profile width is small enough to fit under your scroll saw arm at the bottom of it's stroke.  About 2" (plus or minus 1/4")

I used an ornament pattern to make these toys.  I altered them a bit to beef them up and to turn a reindeer into a horse.  4" tall made from a 2x4.  Also made some Cross/fish nick-nacks. I have made  over 40 of these different items  now. Each takes about nine minutes, at the saw, to make.

I made this rather large box for a local university's Christmas event for local children.  The theme this year is "Mickey's Christmas.  This box measures 11.5" x 8.5" x 3" deep.  This will be their door prize at this event.

I use white wood glue on all my projects but I do not do any fretwork,.  It dries clear if it is not too thick.

It depends on what you are sanding.  Is this fretwork? inlay? compound cutting? Are you sanding bare wood? Plywood?  Are you sanding between coats of finish?  When  I do my inlay I sand bare wood to 100 grit, apply shellac, sand that with 180 grit, apply poly finish and sand between coats, if necessary, with 400 grit.

Our woodworking club has been asked to make chairs for children by Ronald McDonald house here in Lubbock. They will have local artists decorate these chairs and then offer them for auction as a fund raiser. These are the first two. They want thirty of them. Two sizes. Made of 1/2” baltic birch plywood and are twenty inches tall. These are cut out using a jig saw and a scroll saw. Only twenty-eight more to make.
