the pattern took me about 5 hours over 3 days after work.
sawing took about 2 hours.

my second took about an hour for the pattern and about an hour to cut.
i don't have a pic of the finished yet.

Greetings,
There are a lot of routes you can take to eliminate your problem.
You can look for LOW ADHESION or LOW TACK on the description of the
tape.
Since it is just the backer, I don't know why you have to use any tape at all.
Normally, I would think you just trace the shape of the project onto the backer and
cut the backer out.
Finally, if you really have to use the tape on the backer, you can either use
mineral spirits to release the glue so it removes easier or you can heat the tape
up either with a heat gun or blow drier and I have even heard of members putting it
in a microwave for a short time. That will make the tape come up much easier.
Good luck with your project and God Bless! Spirithorse

thank you Spirithorse,
i miss spoke.... it is the scrolled board that gets the tape. i will try the microwave in my next one.... thank you

Ask Steve a question. / tape on Luon
« on: September 06, 2017, 10:30:34 am »
i had a request to make "puzzle piece" picture frames 1/4in thick. to in order to have a backer i am using 1/8th in luon plywood.
when i peal off the blue painters tape it tends to take long slivers of wood off the face.
will the shelf paper from your 9-6-17 prevent this from happening?

hi rob,
i am new-ish to scrolling too.
my wife bought me a wen as a gift. it is not bad to start with if you zip tie the plain end adapter to the bottom holder for using spiral  blades.
i am using a used Craftsman 137.216020 now... i picked it up for $50 on the FB market place. it had a few issues and i fixed all but had to monkeyrig 1 part. on this saw i can cut 4, 1/8in thick picture frames at once. mounting them on a backer board makes them plenty strong.
i caught the scroll bug bad enough that it has pulled me away from my 3D faces.

good luck!!!
chris

Welcome, I am Tony, aka,Toneman from Paris, Texas.
Thanks Tony

Welcome and there is a lot of help here if needed
hello mark... i hope i can be of help too.

Welcome.  Don From Brooklin Ontario Canada.  Just east of Toronto

Steve's blog and site are fantastic.  Make sure you get his keychain and scroll pattern printer program.  It is way down on the blog.  I have made a couple hundred key chains as they are really great presents.  I usually don't sell anything but have taken on a couple of orders as my daughter who gives them out to all her teachers as Christmas presents which starts the chain.

She has changed schools this year and so she already has a request to the "Daddy do list"

Don
thanks don... i will look right now.... i have seen steve's corel video but not good at it yet.

General Scroll Saw Talk / plain end adapters
« on: July 16, 2017, 02:04:09 pm »
i looked high and low and read review after review before i picked a scroll saw.
the wen was in my price range, reviews said that the holders for the "plain end" blades stunk.
i thought... "well anything i want to do i could do with pinned blades"... yeah right!!! lol
the adapters that came with the saw held the pinless blades just fine, but when you disconnected the top to put it through a hole the whole bottom holder fell off the machine. AAAHHHHHHHHhhhhh!!

i am having fun now..... 1 3in zip tie (cut off) on each side of the bracket holds the adapter wonderfully.

i hope this might help other newbies like me.
