Brag Forum / Lamellar Backpack
« on: August 29, 2017, 04:13:27 pm »
I made a lamellar backpack with many wooden disks. Of course some of them have scroll saw images including the lid. Here is the whole process of how I made the bag:

I made this quite a while ago and need make things with a scroll saw again...

Thanks for all the nice comments.

@Brian I did plan to scroll first rout the lid and then do the scrolling since I like scrolling through thinner material. Luckily I did not have any tear out since this would have been on the outside of the lid and thus more visible.

I made this box as a Christmas present to my sibling. It does not have a lot of scroll saw work but I needed to cut the name in reverse from the inside of the lid - I did it to avoid tear out. I made a video to show this and it can be seen from 1:48 in the video below.

I am not sure how much tear out there would have been with the bottom surface unsupported but I am happy with the result.

@DWSudekum

Of course I should have guessed it :P

I will definitely upload the progress videos and share some of the links and pictures here.

Life is indeed tougher when you are stupid...

Brag Forum / Wooden laptop case with many scroll saw details
« on: September 15, 2016, 08:04:27 am »
I just completed a wooden laptop case with many details, and some of the bigger more tricky cuts made on the scroll saw. This includes the Raspberry pi logo on the front and a full sequence of the cutting steps can be seen here:
https://indukudesign.com/2016/09/11/steampunk-raspberry-laptop-teaser/

(I plan to document the whole build on the https://indukudesign.com/ site - but let me know if I anyone would be interested in me posting updates here).

AND I tried my hand at scrolling metal. The hinges for the case and the copper labels. This was quite an interesting experience...

I will have the whole process of the build on youtube. Here is the first video and many where many of the scrolled details can be seen up-close:

I made a whirligig and all the detailed parts were cut on the scroll saw. The whole process is shown here:

General Scroll Saw Talk / Progress over one year
« on: March 24, 2016, 05:46:48 am »
I bought my first scroll saw just over a year ago and are really happy with the decision to begin this as a hobby. I think I have progressed a bit in this time and wrote a bit about it on my blog (also images to compare the initial things I made with the things I am making now):

http://indukudesign.com/2016/03/23/scroll-saw/

I have to say thank you to the people who spend their time in writing in the forums, making blogs or videos or providing any information online to teach and help new scrollers to learn about scroll sawing. This forum has helped me a lot and of course much of the things I know I learned from Steve's youtube videos!

Brag Forum / Mood Barometer

I made this item for a colleague who wanted a fun way to show how she is feeling on any given day  :) We came up with this design and it now hangs on her office door. Since then she actually seems to be in a good mood most of the time  ;)

I have a full link to the building process and also made a time lapse video with all the steps for any one who may be interested (the blog and video is located here): http://indukudesign.com/2016/02/20/mood-barometer/

Any comments on my technique is helpful since all my "training" comes from online resources with no actual feedback.

I like this shell even more than the previous blue one you posted. The amount of pieces making up this item is quite staggering.
