Tried to order 2 more times with the same result, so I phoned the number you gave  and just as you said they are having problems with their website order form. I placed my order and expect it next week as usual. Thanks for the phone number.

I just tried ordering blades from the Mike's Scrollsaw Workshop site and got an error message, has anyone else had the same problem? Or have they shut down the ordering from that site which wouldn't surprise me.

I have cut a 10 inch clock face from red oak and the numbers from walnut as well as a wolf scene from a Sheila Landry pattern. would like to bring out the oak and walnut grain. If I coat them with tung oil can I glue the scene on the tung oil? Any opinion appreciated.

Very nice, as my saw is awaiting parts I glued together walnut, maple and ash strips, I have planed and sanded the resulting boards and now wait for the parts for my saw so I can finish them. I see you used mineral oil and bees wax for a finish, are there other alternatives for a finish? I thought of using canola oil but worry about it not drying.

When I got my EX21 I removed the plastic piece after a very small piece of a cutoff dropped in one of the holes and piece hung up and when I gave a little stronger push the part I was working slipped and I made firewood.
I use a wide mouth part of an exhaust system under the saw hooked to a shop vac, and to combat the noise I wear a set of earphones with a built in radio, I listen to games or music from different radio stations while I work. The shop vac doesn't get everything that falls through but cuts down on cleanup. I also have  box fan with a furnace filter on the suction side to collect the fine dust, I clean the filter weekly and twice a year I replace the filter, I have very little dust in the shop.

Well the craft show paid for my tables and the gas to get there but not much else, in reality that was pretty good considering the temperature was minus 28 in the morning and by the time the show was done it rose all the way to minus 26 but with the wind chill it never went above minus 36.
I can't complain I have had the EX21 for almost 18 months and using it consistently 3 or 4 hours every day I have only replaced thumb screw that holds the blades until now. Should have the parts by Wednesday or Thursday I hope.
In the mean time I used some of my scrap hardwood( walnut and Oak) and glued up a few cutting boards, something I never tried before looks like they will turn out pretty good.
hope the motor for your lathe is a working one this time, Dave.

Anytime sometime can go wrong it will, first craft show of the year coming up on Saturday, three more projects to finish and the threads on the blade clamp on my EX21 give up tonight. I have been so busy I haven't posted for a very long time even though I do check it every once in a while. So now I get time to read all the posts since I last checked here, and I get to play with the new laptop I bought last July and have only turned on once since I got it, while I wait for the parts. So I guess for every negative action there is a positive reaction. Now if the craft sale will pay for the parts and my tables I will be satisfied just so long as I don't get asked for any rush orders. Hope everyone had a great holiday in December and your new year is progressing as you hoped.

The FD blades arrived today from Wooden Teddy bear, took 10 days which is acceptable and there was an adjustment on shipping from $12.95 to $8.95. However they included a catalogue I never asked for which tripled the size of the envelope needed, so the postage stamp reads $4.79, curious where the other $4.16 went, I guess that is to pay for picking the blades. Wish I could find a job that pays that well.

Where is everyone getting their flying Dutchman blades? I was ordering from Mike but as he has sold his business where do I go now. I was down to my last 2 dozen blades and ordered from Wooden Teddy bear but couldn't believe the shipping fees. Mike charged me $3 to ship to Manitoba and I got them in 8 days. Wooden Teddy bear wants $12.95 in shipping fees, now I wait to see when I get them.

After reading a few dozen reviews on different bandsaws I ordered a grizzley 14 inch from amazon. Although I was assured of 3 to 5 day delivery I finally received it after 16 days. Some assembly required, well after 3 hours assembly and an hour to complete the setup I am more than satisfied. Thankfully my son was handy to help lift get it to the shop and get it on the stand, total weight is close to 200 pounds. A few extra bucks but it is so smooth running a great addition to my shop and well worth the cost. Now the only thing left is a quiet dust collection system.
BTW, when I called amazon about delivery taking so long they refunded me $100 so the wait was worth it. lol

Well it it's finished, I used polyurethane, three coats of liquid and it looks great.
if I figure out how to post pictures I'll post it. I can work a saw pretty well but a computer
and I are definitely not friends. I'll wait until one of my grandsons comes around.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Finish on walnut

I cut the Steve wood's pattern scroll box out of walnut with red oak front and back. It looks good but now I am unsure what to use as a finish. I usually use lemon oil with a poly top coat but find this always turns walnut to a very dark color and I would like to keep it as light as possible. Any suggestions?
