General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Losing my grip

I've been using the rubber finger tips for years.   Wouldn't cut without them.  I buy them by the box at Staples.   When its cold you could cut the finger tips off cotton gloves and use the rubber finger tips.   It'll work!

I'm a top feeder.  I'll not consider using a saw with required me to bottom feed.   I like my DeWalt but use my Excalibur more.

After setup, the first thing I did is remove the  blade guards from my DeWalt and Excalbur saws.  They're a nuisance and I don't believe their necessary for our kind of scrollers; maybe in an industrial setting.

Some time ago I cut round hold in two 3/8" pieces of clear plastic to raise the table to use more of the blade.  Stuck the two together with double sided tape.  Then attached it to the table with double sided tape.  Worked just fine but it's difficult to remove from the table.  I don't use it anymore because it to much trouble.  The blade cost is negligible compared to the cost of good hard wood.

Thank you, but,   not what I'm looking for.   It runs in my memory, Steve had a pattern maker that would have a base on the bottom. Something like his key fob pattern maker.  Moonie

What suggestions do ya'll have for a stencil pattern?  I need to make word art gifts for a friend.  It must be free. There are many on line, but I'm afraid of importing a Trojan or malware and the like.   Thanks for your help.

I recently installed a new drive link assembly (top) supplied by Ray at Seyco.  I'm not a scroll saw mechanic but the instructions were detailed enough for me and a helper to complete the job.  My Ex runs like new, now.  Ray is THE go-to man.

I also noticed less participation... I check in most everyday. I don't always post, but I learned so much about scrolling when I found this forum, I still consider it a daily must.   Also, we need more jokes in the Coffee Shop.

I agree with Graybeard, especially about the blade speed and SLOW feed rate.    Recently I've been using the FD-SP Rev No. 2/0. I love it because there is VERY little tear out and excellent control.    --Moonie

Verrrrrrrrrrrrrry  Interesting.    I solved the slipping issue by using a rubber finger sleeve/tip...  I get them at Staples.  VERY cheap.
