Computer questions / Add on for Firefox users
« on: December 30, 2015, 10:43:09 pm »
After reading many of the issues about many of members computer problems, most of you seem to be using Firefox as you browser. I also use Firefox as it leaves IE for dead. There is an add on that you can install for Firefox....It is called 'Ghostery'

It tracks all of the organisations and intruders wishing to interrupt your browsing and lets you know about them. From there, you can select the ads, malware and any other people that you don't want on your computer. Follow the link below to get your free copy of Ghostery.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ghostery/

I have been using it for around 2 years now and I am very pleased with the way it stops unwanted intruders to my computer.

« on: December 29, 2015, 06:34:21 am »
I own a Makita SJ401 Scroll saw and I was wondering if it is possible to use a foot pedal for this model.

Does anyone know if the rheostat switch would would stop me from using a pedal switch?

The Coffee Shop / Great Christmas Party in the heat.
« on: December 24, 2015, 01:27:02 am »
Just a little over 2 weeks ago I held the kids Christmas party for all of the kids and their parents of the street I live in. This is the second year I have done this and we would have been running the Christmas trains around the garden like we did last year. But the temperatures in Adelaide, Australia, put a stop to that, it was 44?Celsius (111?Fahrenheit) at 5.30pm when the party started.
I realised from the forecasts that the temperature was going to be a killer, so I made other plans to keep them all entertained. I used some of the patterns from this site and made enough snowflakes for the kids to decorate and take home. It was a great success and the kids spent ages painting and adding glitter to them. Thanks to all who contributed the patterns to allow this to happen.

Every so often I would turn on the misters in the shade-house and the kids would walk through to cool down, in fact, many of the parents also cooled down the same way. When the party finished at 11.00pm, it was still 38?c. But I know all had a great time and asked if we were going to do the same next year.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a great and peaceful Christmas and I will see you in the New Year.

Cheers 8)

Introduce Yourself. / G'Day from Adelaide, Australia.
« on: November 20, 2015, 04:52:20 pm »
I have worked with wood for most of my working life and only recently discovered Scroll Sawing. This was by accident when I was asked to make 2 name plates at the Men's Shed I belong too. I started out with reservations when I couldn't fathom out the scroll saw....then, after working out how it was done, I fell in love with the hobby.
That was 2 days ago. I discovered Steve's site when I tried to gather more information and found it to be very informative. Many thanks Steve for such a great site and for the fantastic patterns you have for all to use.
