Brag Forum / Pattern by Sheila Landry, Birchbank and Me
« on: April 29, 2015, 02:54:23 am »
The patterns originally came from Sheila Landry.  The Papa one is unchanged and all Sheila or Keith's work.  However Grams is very much changed.  The original concept is Sheila's but I changed Grandma for Grams and Birchbank (Russell, Scroll Saw Village) did the Scroll Saw silhouette for me and I put it all together.  It is 1/4 inch Camphor Laurel, smell very nice when being cut.

Brag Forum / Christmas Fan Set
« on: April 02, 2015, 01:26:21 am »
I finally finished 2 sets of Christmas Fans.  The patterns are by Sue Mey.  The ply is about 2 1/2 mm thick both front and back with a very thin piece of clear film between and Amos Glass Deco (stained glass)   One set is already sold.  The photo taken on the window is to show how they look with the light shining through them, well it would have if the sun had been shinning in the right direction.

Brag Forum / First Ever Intarsia
« on: March 04, 2015, 12:53:50 am »
Well here it is my very first Intarsia project.  Can't say it was easy because I only had my Dremil to do the shaping with but all in all I am quite pleased with it.  There is a slight gap between the bottom fin and the bottom of the beak and the body, it looks worse on the photo than it actually is.  I had to use thinner wood than suggested because I didn't have enough of that size.  I have used two different woods but they are both Blackhearted Sassafras but on the photo the colors look the same.  Would I do another.....yes I think I would, if it was up to my husband I would be doing a motor bike the same as Lee did but I told him that is way out of my league maybe in 20 years time I'll be up for that.  Like I said before this is my year for doing new things on the scroll saw, so between doing orders I will be doing other things so stay tuned you never know whats coming next.  I have to thank Heppnerguy from Scroll Saw Village for all of his help and encouragement.

Brag Forum / Christmas Fan
« on: February 19, 2015, 12:51:05 am »
I bought a set of Christmas fans from Sue Mey just before Christmas.  I thought I would give one ago last week, it ended up being thicker than I wanted because I had to use 3mm ply so when you put 2 together you end up with 6mm.  Once again I used a thin piece of film and used Amos Glass Deco.  They are approx.4" wide, so not very big at all but if you wanted to make them bigger they would look just as nice.

Thanks go to Tdub4ever for this pattern that he made for me.  I made it wider then he suggested because I like the wood, it 1 inch wide Tasmanian Blackheart Sassafras.  Its my favorite wood, lovely to work with.
