Pattern Requests. / Script writing request please
« on: May 28, 2016, 09:34:07 am »
Hello everyone.

a friend of mine asked me to make her a sign to hang outside at her house. she asked if I could make her a sign reading :  PAULA'S CAFE

in a nice script writing with a steaming coffee cup on it...the only restriction I have is that it can only be 20 inches long. the width doesn't matter just the length...

I'm thinking of using a couple of steve's coffee cups since he has numerous ones on here that I can intergrate into the sign. my only problem is making the word art part that is a nice script that I can cut on the scroll saw.

if anyone could help me out I would be really grateful.

thank you

« on: June 17, 2015, 06:57:32 am »
hello everyone,

I am looking to modify one of steve's welcome sign patterns. I would like to take the "welcome" part out of it and put in "The Rucchin Familly"

if any of you awesome pattern guys out there can do this for me it would be absolutely wonderfull !! I am not sure if I am allowed to post the welcome sign template that he has so I will just describe it...it is the one with the small deer on the bottom, rabbits in the lower right corner, a coupe trees, and maple leaf's across the top...if you guys think it would be possible to modify it I would love to see ppl's ideas on how we can do this...

thanks everyone ..

Pattern Requests. / hanging sign request
« on: March 04, 2015, 09:19:57 am »
Hi gals and guys,

I had a request from someone I know that owns a farm asking if I can make this sign for them but instead of "the andersons" to have it say "The Thorne's"

I was wondering if one of you awesome designers might be able to adjust this for me to show their name in it. and help with changing the letters as necessary so they can be cut out on the scroll saw for me. if the font has to be changed that is fine they said but they would like to keep the style very similar to what is shown

I would really appreciate it ..

thanks

« on: November 20, 2014, 07:24:07 am »
hello there, a fellow woodworkers wife just came to me a week or so ago and asked if I could make her a gift to give to her hubby for xmas....she asked if I could make a wooden saw blade with the word "WOODWORKING" rounded at the top of the blade and words "BY WAYNE" rounded at the bottom of the blade.  any of you guys have any ideas? I can picture it in my head exactly how it should look but unfortunately I do not know how to use any kind of editing programs or anything like that so I am very limited to what I can make for her...if you guys can possibly help me out it would be awesome ...

thanks

Pattern Requests. / another veteran request
« on: November 18, 2014, 11:09:19 pm »
I thought I would surprise my wife with a after picture of her grandfather who was in the war who just passed away a few months ago. I would love to give the family a picture of him in his war uniform (which I really appreciate everyones efforts to make up for me) but I also thought that a picture of him and his wifes 60th anniversary would also be a GREAT addition as well. after all 60 years of marriage is not heard of to often these days. him and his wife met in the war, she was a nurse . once they met they never left eachothers side! their story is amazing one of love and commitment. of course many people met and married because of the war and this is just another one of those amazing stories with only the pictures left to tell the tales...

thank you ahead of time for taking the time to help me out. I really appreciate it everyone :)

a friend of mine asked if I could make her a wall piece for her 2 year old grandson.. she asked if I can make a picture of a Tonka truck (or something like that )and incorporate his name into it...
I was thinking that the character "chuck the truck" would be an awesome picture for a 2 year old...

his name is Jack

anyone have any patterns available or can help me out with one and help me put his name into it?

thanks everyone

General Scroll Saw Talk / PLEASE HELP with mao shan scroll saw
« on: August 17, 2014, 11:36:18 am »
so I've been using a crappy old mastercraft pin end scroll saw for years now. my cousin had this mao shan pinless scroll saw sitting in the corner of his shop for years that he had only used a couple times so he thought it would have a better home in my shop !!! whoooo hooooo....I looked up this scroll saw name and it appears a pretty good name that has made products for grizzly and a few other companies in the past...anyways....my problem is in the pinless blades and the clamps ...no matter what I do I cannot get the blades tight enough in the clamps to hold them...even when I take a pair of plyers to hold the clamp then reef on it with an alan key to tighten it it still wont tighten enough to hold the blades.....there must be something i'm doing wrong here..but I just can't figure it out...I was sooo excited to get this good heavy duty saw and I just am dying to start using it..but I need to get past this issue first lol...the saw itself is like 10 times the weight of my mastercraft and very well built of out cast iron! here is a few pics of it and the clamps that I just can't get tight enough.....please please help guys !! lol...

Pattern Requests. / outdoor name plaque
« on: April 11, 2014, 03:18:36 pm »
Hello again everyone,

i'm looking to make a couple outdoor name plaques for some friends of mine. i really like this pattern that steve posted : http://www.stevedgood.com/newwelcomesign.pdf

however i would like to change the "welcome" to someone's last name. can i get your guys and gals recommendations on the best way to do this please.

would i just find a font that i like and print it off and set it ontop of steve's pattern and try to match them up together as best i can? or is there a program that i can upload his design into and change the pattern to show the name i am looking at inserting? it would be nice to have some kind of program or pattern that is kind of generic that you can change the names for different people...is this possible at all?

General Scroll Saw Talk / outdoor signs
« on: April 03, 2014, 08:58:26 am »
Hello everyone, i've been a long time lurker here at the forums and have learnt a great deal from all the people around here with so much knowledge...i'm not one for usually posting but i can't find the answer anywhere around here for the question i have...

i am going to be making a outdoor sign for a friend of mine. they would like a nice scrolling fretwork piece to hang at their camp. my question is do you guys think i can make this out of the normal baltic birch ply i use or should i go with a different kind of wood? i would like to stick with the BB if possible. also i love to use danish oil, i use it for pretty much all of my work...can this be used for a outdoor project?

this is what i was thinking....do my piece, finish it with danish oil. but where i'm stuck is what kind of finish to put on it after the danish oil i.e. lacquer, varathane, etc. etc.   after applying that i was thinking of some tompsons outdoor water sealer that is used on decks ? think that would work? if not any other ideas? what would hold up to the rain, humidity, and weather???

i would tell my friend to bring it inside for the winter since we are up in northern ontario canada and our winters are brutal..

thank you all for any and all suggestions....

dan
