Ask Steve a question. / blade questions
« on: April 04, 2018, 12:26:50 am »
Hello Steve
do certain saw work better with certain blades ?
i bought 140 olson skip tooth 0/2 size and they seem to break twice as fast and crappy skill and bosh blades
is there any truth to my question or am i just being goofey?
i am using a porter cable 18" variable speed sroll saw just like the one had reviewed
i did have to do alot of tweeking to get it running smooth and take some of the side to side movement out of the blade although i did not get much out it still has side to side movement .. could that have something to do with the blades breaking?
i am a little frustrated. I am going to try pegasus and flying dutchman blades also

« on: March 15, 2018, 11:18:18 pm »
i just bought a porter cable 18" variable speed and i have one issue i dont know how to fix.
it seems the lower arm moves slightly side to side  so the blade moves side to side annoying as heck .
i think it maybe a miss formed or even bent lower arm, I havent taken the arm out to look at it yet just incase some knows a  fix
if there are any suggestions  i would welcome all?

The Coffee Shop / LOVE this time of year
« on: February 10, 2018, 06:04:24 am »
Man i love this time of year Tractor Supply/rRural King and some other stores are getting the summer equipment in and i am scoring some fantastic oak shipping crates made from 1/4 x4x5  i have about 3 pickup loads of wood to de-nail and cut out bad parts
I actually have about enough oak to finally do my pallet hard wood floor in my LOL Man-cave  LOL should be great
I absolutely love pallet wood there are sooo many interesting wood grain patterns i have a blonde wood with light red and black streaks running all through the boards i have no idea what the wood is but i like it for small scrollsaw projects

the blue tape is 1.41 inches by 54 yards

« on: February 03, 2018, 03:05:18 am »
I have a 20yr old Dremel 16"2-speed saw. I guess my question is this thing vibrates soo bad on high speed I bounces the workpiece and not to mention everything off the shelf  is this typical of an average scrollsaw? is there anything i can look for like bearings  or something that makes it this bad or shoulkd i just get a new modern one. I have a small budget so what is a nice one for under 200.00

any help would be much appreciated
thank you
Scott
