Computer questions / Re: Computer going back into shop (again)

Are you using the free version of Malwarebytes or the pay version?   I have been using Malwarebytes for several years now and wouldnt run a computer today without it.   You can get the paid version by watching Newegg and other sites will usually have a sale where you can get a lifetime registration for it for under $15.  This is one of the best I have found so far.  I also use Avast! Free Antivirus, both seem to keep me out of trouble and pretty trouble free on all 3 of my machines.

A few months back (March?) I did have a small issue with it dinging a few files as being suspect but they quickly updated and cleared.

The pay version of Malwarebytes updates its files about 6 times a day and I see regular program updates as well.  The free version is a manual updater.

Charlie,

Just my 2 copper pieces here... but before you sign away all rights to this let me relate something that you might want to take a few mins to Google.  A cousin and I were talking about signage at Walmart and he was saying that the reason you dont see that yellow smiley face guy in any of their ads anymore is beacuse they lost a big lawsuit and had to change logos to that big * they use now.  So I googled it.   Remember back in the 60s and 70s all the  :) they use to wear on Tshirts and stuff.
Seems there's a family that trademarked it and still own the rights to it.  They are still raking in millions every year from it.  I would hate to think that you might sell something out right and some mom and pop startup takes it and turns into Facebook or Microsoft  ;)

Looks great!  I have plans to do a FL Gator for my cousin when I can get some time to fiddle with turning the big gator head into a pattern  :o  Plenty of time between now and Christmas!

Congrats on the new Doctor in the family.

If you are stumped for a font for your project I found a site a few years back http://www.dafont.com/ that lets you type in your name or phrase and go through the thousands of fonts they have to see what you like.  Most are free or for personal use and very simple to download and install in windows.

Post your finished project! I would love to see what you came up with!

A better solution is to grab the Free Avast! and a registered copy of Malwarebytes. You can get the free version of MB but the registered copy is life time, and can be had for between 12 and $15 when its onsale and WELL worth the costs.  8)

I am very fussy about my malware and virus security, I have been know to travel to some darker sides of the internet from time to time  :o

At the moment one of the more annoying gimmics is a popup that says your Adobe or Flash is out of date and prompts you to update it now!  If you think you are on a bad website or page, close your browser, If you suspect you have an infection... Stop and run your antivirus and malware checker.  If you think you need an update on your installed software, never click on a popup or email offer... go directly to the software companies website and download it from them.

Unfortunately even the BEST antivirus software runs as much as 30 days behind the curve from the time a new virus hits the internet until a cure is passed to the consumers.

I'm about to have a new DW788 arrive and I have seen some comments elsewhere about Waxing my table top?

Should I, and if so, what do you recommend?

Thanks... And Yeah I'm so excited you would think I'm 8 years old (again) and today was December 23!  ::)

Xavi,

I dont know if the ES version of Amazon has them, but I know the US Amazon has the DeWalt DW788 for $459.00 US and DeWalt will knock off another $25.00 until Father's Day. and free shipping.  Hard price to pass up on for me!  ::)

Good luck on the Dream!

Hi I'm Russ from Florida. Welcome to the Scrollsaw Forum. A day without saw dust is like a day without sunshine.  :)

Hi Russ!  What part of FL?

Was that from Steve's website or just the general garbage that floats around the net?

Howdy guys!  I finally got off my duff and registered!   Im just another new scroller.

At the moment I have a Boat Anchor / Future Fishing Reef of a scroll saw so I have been doing all the reading I can until I can get my DW788  ::)

(I hold Steve responsible for the DeWalt decision!)  I was on the fence about going with something cheaper, but after the frustrations in trying to find parts for a Chinese made saw sold by a company in Australia that has gotten out of the SS business several years back, I wanted something that I know will hold its value and has a good parts supply/repair chain available.  So.. by the first of the month I should be ordering my new saw!

Im stuck here in the armpit of Florida trying to stay cool until the fall and slowly trying to build up a home scroll saw hobby workshop and keep the cat out of the blades!
