Brag Forum / Carole Rothman bowl

Here is a Carole Rothman pattern bowl, Black Walnut, Cherry, and Maple. I call it a "Holy" bowl, I had to sand the heck out of it!   :D

If this lady is the one I'm thinking of, she is my great aunt twice removed and I'm her favorite nephew. It would bless her so much if you bought her nephew an EX-21 with some of the left over cash.  ;D

This is the one I have : http://www.woodcarverssupply.com/NEW-BURNMASTER-EAGLE-2-PENS10-TIPS-BAG/productinfo/499202/ Works great and you can have 2 pens set up ready to use with a flip of the switch. Also has the adjustable heat. Much better than the single tip soldering iron type.

Hey everyone,
This is Brian from New York. I've been scrolling for about 4 years now and dabbling in woodworking on and off about 20 yrs.. Started with a noisy Craftsman 16" single speed scrollsaw/paint shaker and now have a Dewalt 788. One small step for the wallet and giant step for my scrolling! Looking forward to expanding my skills with everyones help and maybe giving help when I can.

Is Excaliber the only one with head angling instead of table? I never tipped my table on my DW788 until last week, I made one of Carole Rothmans bowls. It was a pain to try to follow lines with the table tipped. I would probably put the head angling near the top of my "want on my next saw" list.

If you were looking for the ultimate scroll saw what would it be?

A new 24 inch sells for $400+ according to this site: http://woodworker.com/24-scroll-saw-mssu-140-063.asp  It says this is a 2 speed. Looks heavy duty but I would get something with variable speed myself.

The Sand Flee seems overpriced to me, just a motor turning a drum under a slotted table.

It will get better! Do a lot of "Googling" different issues you're having and ask a lot of questions here. Practice and getting experience is the main thing though.

I agree with Rapid Roger, Poplar is a good wood for a lot of different projects, It doesn't take stain very well though but clear coats good.

Look around for a "Real" electrician and get everything to code, it will be safer and work right the first time. I highly doubt that Lowes has licensed electricians to advise you.
