Wow that is pretty cool. All those parts come together to make something functional. Very nice work. Loved seeing it.

Welcome to this forum. I am just a year younger than you. Started my scroll sawing hobby a few months ago and love it. I have a very limited work with wood so this is all pretty new to me. This site has helped me in so many ways and the people on here are all so nice. Good to see someone on here besides me that likes to yap. Im sure we will see each other on and I look forward to seeing your projects. BTW, I am from Phoenix AZ.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: M&M Blade Holders
« on: June 17, 2012, 05:47:41 pm »
Good suggestion. My wife and I were at Walmart yesterday and I saw some while in line. Grabbed 2. My wife gave me a funny look (we are both on a diet). I told her it was for my scroll saw blade. lol any excuse for candy while on a diet. Well they work perfect. Need to get 3 more containers for some new blades.

Can you use the gel stain for fret work? How do you get it in the little holes. I think trying to stain such a project would be hard. I did see some dark spray that I thought might work.

glad you found the adaptors, when you start using the finer blades you will notice a 100% improvement in your cutting. Also I would recommend "Flying Dutchman" blades. It's my opinion, but they seem to cut straighter than any other brand and stay sharper longer too, it's a win win situation lol.
they can be found here http://www.mikesworkshop.com/blades.htm and Mike is very helpful if you have any questions

I just ordered some blades from them. Their site is nice, but their order form is a bit odd. Will post a review when I get the blades.

Fantastic start, someday I hope to get the courage to try Intarsia. Looking forward to seeing the finished project.

Mike

I say, just jump in and do one. Im still working my way through my first one, but every step is so much fun. Even if it isnt perfect it is still good. Seeing the picture come together one part at a time...so much fun. This cat he did is great!

Hey Troy, Do like I used to do; "Honey, I can do that, but I will need a new.....fill in tool name here". ;D

LOL, We are already discussing the need for a new belt/disc sander. My birthday is in September...or so she reminds me. Well I guess I cant complain if she picks out projects, after all she could be picking out things for me to do like mow the lawn or such.

No time like summer to start on Christmas projects. I got my first pin less blade today (spiral blade) and made this project using 1/2 in poplar. I still need to put a finish on it, but other than that I think it turned out decent.

I left the catalog from this site open on my desktop computer and went to work. I come home and my wife has printed out a ton of patterns for projects she wants me to make. Lol, I thought I had enough on my own to keep me busy.

Hey Brummie, for what it is worth, I am Troy from Phoenix AZ. I am probably the newest woodworker on the forum. Got my first saw for Christmas and have just recently really started making things. This site is very good for information and already I feel I have made a few good friends.

IDK, this site seems pretty limited in things it offers. Wonder how many buyers get to this or how many would see your items for sale. My mom sells a ton of stuff on a place called yardsellr.com they have a wood worker block there. It is kind of interesting, but even that site I dont know how well things sell.

Ahhh if only I had those cool 90 degree days again...It has been 106 to 109 the past month. My shop is an outdoor screened in patio. My saw is on a rolling stand. I roll it out and hope for a breeze. Mostly I work in the evenings before it gets dark. But soon the daylight here will last until about 10 pm so that will give me more time to cut. The good thing is we dont have the humidity here so it works ok.

:) Yes I am happy. Even more now that I can use pin less blades. But even before I was happy. Made a few nice things.
