« on: February 15, 2012, 03:00:51 am »
An Eagle cut from 6.5mm (1/4") birch plywood and mounted on a backing board covered in black felt. It measures 39" wing tip to wing tip.
I counted the cuts in the fish and was amazed to find that there were 189 in the fish alone  :o
Another great pattern by Charlie Dearing!
The pic is taken at a slight angle to try and protect the pattern...Pete

General Scroll Saw Talk / VIBRATION ?
« on: February 08, 2012, 04:49:07 pm »
Hi All,
There is a video on youtube by Adrian Iredale with a glass of coke sitting on the work surface with the scroll saw turned fully up and the glass and coke sitting pretty much motion less! what i would like to know is what kind of saw do you have ? and how much vibration do you have with it when it is turned up to full speed. Does anyone else have a saw that runs as smooth as that ??

General Scroll Saw Talk / Ex 21
« on: January 13, 2012, 03:32:30 am »
I've decided to send my EX21 back to Axminster to see if they can sort the problem of excessive vibration  above half speed.
But i have to say their  customer service is second to none as they gave me some suggestions to try, but as they were unsuccessful they are arranging to pick it up on monday for there technical department to have a look at it and hopefully return it when its running the way it should be !
It seems to me that there only goal is customer satisfaction and that to me is very satisfying.
My problem is i am going to be without my scrollsaw for a few days at least , what am i going to do ?? any suggestions  ::)...Pete

General Scroll Saw Talk / Spiral Advice
« on: January 04, 2012, 11:48:43 am »
Hi, Can anyone give some advice on using spiral blades? as the spiral goes all the way to the end of the blades " no flat ends " i can feel the blade getting crushed when i tighten the clamp and this makes it more difficult to thread  in future cuts as it out of shape. Also i seem to break a lot more spirals than flat ended blades is there a reason for this ? any advice would be welcome...Pete

Brag Forum / Getting Adventurous
« on: December 29, 2011, 08:09:27 am »
This is one of Charlie Dearing's Pattern's and i'm sure he posted his cutting of this subject not so long ago. Had to think what cuts to leave to the end as some fragile bits , it was cut from 6.5mm (1/4) birch ply with a 3mm (1/8") ply backing, i cut it with a 3# fd ur and was my most adventurous project so far and i am pleased with the outcome ;) .
A qustion for the more seasoned scrollers , i am a top feeder and sometimes find it difficult to align the drill hole with the hole in the table! this is ok when you have a new blade and it is aligned with the hole but after a few cuts i sometimes find that the blade is just off alignment makeing it a bit more difficult to pass the blade through !. Any thoughts... Pete

Replaced original photo with smaller one as original one could have been used as a pattern and that would be unfair to charlie as it is his business  ;).
The cutting measures 22" x 15"
Mainewoods, I think i will stick with top feeding as i think i would end up with a sore back if i were to look under all the time ;D
