Title: stain on walnut table, help
Post by: yyyyyguy on July 11, 2017, 11:07:20 am
"A friend" has a table she thinks is walnut (I haven't seen it) that developed a white stain after someone set a hot, damp paper plate on it. The stain is white and I have no idea what to tell her but thought I'd mention it here since I know there is a plethora of knowledge viewing this very post. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Pete

Has she tried rubbing it with her finger to make sure its not the paper from the plate that has stuck to the table? If not try a light cleaner nothing to harsh it could be a water stain, think there is special cleaners for those that don't hurt the finish.

I think I have read that you take a walnut and rub it on the stain

Depending upon the type of finish that is on the tabletop a small amount of White toothpaste rubbed over the stain can sometimes take it out.  The white toothpaste - can not be the kind that has mouthwash or flavor crystals or anything like that has a very fine abrasive in it that helps rubout the stain.
