Title: Where's Iggy?
Post by: Gabby on July 30, 2013, 03:56:41 am
Has anyone heard from or about Iggy aka Ian?
I have his e-mail address and haven't heard a thing from him in ages
I hope he's OK.

Gabby I sent him an email just after he last contacted us here and I have not had a word back from him.  As we know he was going through depression, maybe if you send him an email he may respond, can do no harm to try.

This is tough to deal with I have been there and still there take meds for it. It makes you want to sleep and not to do anything all but just sit there. Those that don't understand depression don't understand what one's go though. I sure hope Ian is ok.

it sure is tough!.
to understand a little, it's like mixing your feelings:

think of two things to do,
the greatest thing you like/want to do.
and the the worst thing that you hate or wont do.
now imagine the feelings that you would have doing these things.
Then cross both feelings!
so when you have to do the greatest thing you like, for you it feels as doing the worse thing......
and doing all other things less then the greatest makes your feel even worse then you could ever imagine...

My husband and I went to stay with Ian (Iggy) last year and we spoke about Ian's depression then and when I sent him the email I told him that all he had to do was email me and we could chat about it, I figured with me not being family it may help him a bit more, I know it helps me when I'm going though my tough times but he never emailed me back so I did not know what to do, I certainly did not want him to feel that I was hounding him that is why I suggested that Gabby should give it a try.

I sent him a shout out asking for a response as to how he's getting along, we'll see if he responds. I think his mail is getting through since it isn't being bounced as undeliverable.

Well what do you know the sorry reprobate sent me an e-mail about an hour ago, he's fine and been working himself like a dog as usual. He just doesn't know when to quit. Sounded chipper to me and from what he told me he'd been doing he didn't have time to loll around in or out of a depression.
Perhaps if I make life miserable for him he'll post a note here.
So everyone take a deep breath and YELL AT THE SORRY OUTFIT!

LOLOLOL  ;D ;D ;D ;D
Sign me relieved,
Gabby

Sorry everyone, I have been wrapped up in my own agenda lately as I have been waiting for a year for an Ankle Joint. As Marg will tell you, I was limping well when she was here with Roy last year. Since then, I have been keeping up my usual work rate and as the Ankle gets progressively worse, it gets harder and harder to cope. I now have trouble making 100 yards without extreme pain, apparently there is no cartilage left in the first joint thus the pain. The delay is not due to the system failure but all mine as they would not take me in with high blood pressure. That problem is now resolved and today I have been for a pre op survey and passed with flying colours so am staring down the barrel of my first bit of titanium implant within the next Month. The downside is that I am not allowed to put my foot to the ground for at lest 6 weeks after the op, that will kill me!!!
On the positive side, I have a long standing desire to learn Google's sketchup, Her in doors will have to wait on me hand and foot (YEH), there are some books I need to catch up on, pester Gabby to distraction, and recall some of the favours I have done for others as I never charge for my work, only the materials. I will shut up now as you must be getting PEED off by now IGGY  8) 8) 8) 8)

We never get PEED off with you Iggy. It's great to see you back. And good luck with that ankle. Take care.

I'm with G.B.. Titanium rocks! I've got a titanium hip. Broke it on a Monday, got operated on on Tuesday, walking with crutches on Wednesday was home on Friday and walking without aid buy the following Friday. It will more than likely outlive all the rest of my joints.  :D ;) ;D

Thanks G B and R R for your encouraging comments. I am not concerned about the surgery but the recovery time is a pain. Because the Joint is so small, they fit a hinge rather like a dovetail joint and the bone has to grow back around it to hold it in place so the after care is as follows. 6 weeks in a cast during which time you are not allowed to put your foot to the floor at all then another 6 weeks with a pump  up boot followed with another 3 months of intensive therapy. The tools will be rusty and the car won't start, but on the + side, I get to virtually spend the winter in bed and hope God will pay the winter fuel bills. Iggy.

Glad to be back, listen to you all, Good banter and good fun. Marg!! I will drum up a page or two for you soon, I use Roy's Pen Daily on my Diary and have had 2 refills to-date, The Wombat has pride of place on the little Welsh Dresser in the kitchen. Right now I have other things on my mind as I got a date for Surgery yesterday, 11 days from now on the 28th. I have to clear my order book before then as the recovery period for Ankle joint replacement is about 6 Months. ie: 6 Weeks in Plaster, 6 weeks with one of those Lurch type pump up boots followed up with another prolonged period of therapy. During that time, I guess I will be pestering you lovely people to death. especially Gabby, Marg, Roy and keefie. I have a theory that some of you are escapees from Area 51. LOL Iggy. PS. Truly, thanks for being there all of you, you make a great commmmunity and long may you be there.

Hi Ian, if Fran is anything like Marg, you'll be SAFER in a home. My Marg was a nurse in an old folks home, so I wouldn't even be safe in there.  ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)
In fact it reminds me ,when my wife retired from the home, she gave a sigh of relief, saying well, no more changing wet pants, or residents who had had an "accident", no more washing bums and faces and feeding folks. My son's reply to that was. Hey Mum, you forgot DAD is still in the house !!!!!!! Good thing he got out the door smartish. ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

Rob, you forgot you sent me your address, so I'll let your Marg know in case she missed this post.

Ian, firstly, let me apologise for not replying sooner but I have had all my family decend on me - both from London and from Northern Ireland, so I have had my hands full with all the grandkids (mainly attacking my bad knee lol)
It's great to see you back here, and I wish you well in your operation coming up soon. I don't envy you your recovery time, after my last op I was off my feet for only a few days and that had me tearing my hair out. Hopefully though you will be able to get to your computer and log in here for all the support you need (except from that Gabby and Roy as they will no doubt be out trying to steal someones horses !!!) Seriously though, there is an absolutely great bunch of people here and I can almost guarantee that everyone will be here for you, whether it's just for a chat ot you need cheering up.
My family all went home yesterday, so I have a lot of catching up to do, that Rob Roy, Gabby and Marg have been getting away with it for far too long  :D :D :D

Good luck again with your operation Ian

Well folks, back at home now complete with a brand new full Ankle joint. Pretty sore right now but I guess that will subside and I will be able to resume some sort of normal life in 6 weeks or so. I asked the Surgeon to magnetise it so I can pick up screws and things that drop on the floor. The hospital is brand new and I had my own private room with an En-suite shower & bog, all for free. The Queen & I are thinking of moving in along with the EX 30 and a few blades.

A very good morning to you Ian. Glad to hear the surgery went well, hopefully you're not in too much pain but it will be worth it. You'll be a new man, but do as Fran and the doctors tell you or you won't have "A LEG TO STAND ON" ;D ;D.
At least it will slow you down for a wee while. No doubt you will be doing a Keefie, pulling your hair out, come to think of it, has Keefie got any hair to pull out ????. All joking aside Ian, we hope you are up and about in jig time.
In the meantime I'm about to give Gabby a shout as we have some horses round up  :D :D :D :D :D. Not to mention VARMINTS.

If Marg has to be protected from Roy and I. Wouldn't that infer that she's a horse?
I'm confused I thought she was a spritely lass from down under and completely safe from the likes of Roy and me! Since all we can do nowadays is chase horses, and I don't mean fillies either just some old nags that aren't very fast. Roy doesn't have enough NITRO to get him through an encounter with a two legged filly, and I can't run fast enough to catch one and I've nearly forgotten what to do with one if I did catch her.
So you are safe from us Marg.  LOL ;D ;D ;D ;D

Now that we have Marg taken care of, back to the man this thread is named for, old what's his name over there where they talk funny and can't even speak english.
I seem to remember reading somewhere that the old coot got his kicker fixed but it's going to be a while before he can do some kicking with it. So I suppose he'll just be making a nuisance of himself and drive everyone crazy as he is!
Perhaps His Marge will brain him and put us all out of our misery.
Oh darn I'll bet he'll read this and think we don't love him. WRONG get well soon IGGY,
and maybe you could take a taste or 2 or maybe more of some of that Johnny Walker stuff that comes in the nice square bottles, so as to numb some of the pain whilst you are healing.
Enjoy the rest Ian you have earned it.

Gabby & Roy.  Here in wales, we have millions of sheep if the horses are getting to much for you. the procedure is easy, you have to pay a Toll at the Severn Bridge to get in to Wales then you have access to all the sheep you want for nothing. I have a picture of you Gabby, with a massive Cowboy Saddle on a sheep galloping across a field with your new C W>----- chasing a Badger. It is open season on them as they are accused of contaminating the cattle with Bovine TB. LOL Iggy

Hi Iggy. SHEEP.Don't even go there. ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::).
We've got millions of them up here too. I'm afraid I will have to decline your offer, for the following reasons Iggy. Not only do I have to pay to get over the Severn bridge,( beautiful as it is), I will also have to pay to get over the Forth bridge and that's daylight robbery. I may consider it if Old Gabby there wants to contribute but I think it could be financially untenable.  ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::). We'll see what transpires or in my case EXPIRE.
Take care of that ankle and lap up all the attention you're getting.LOL.

Rob.  The S/Bridge is owned by the French and also costs a fortune to cross, you can avoid the toll by applying for a Blue Disabled Badge. Just as a matter of interest, and you know it, the Scots are the most generous nation on earth. when my business went upside down 15 years ago, all my friends wanted to know what I was going to do about it. All except a Scot called John Warrender who gave me ?10,000 without prompting and without hesitation, that saved the day for me and I paid him back as soon as humaly possible. God bless him, he has gone now but I will never forget.

Have you checked your email Iggy, there's an ecard there for you, just in case your spam filter kicks it out. You've just spoiled our image of being miserable Scots. It's just a myth. "AYE RIGHT". LOL. You must have been lucky but all joking aside that was a wonderful gesture of trust and friendship. I would imagine it was a great relief for you and the family too.

Gabby.  Don't put the Scots and Welsh in the same basket. the Welsh nation was contaminated starting with the Romans 2000 years ago and by many others since. The Scots are the only pure race left in Europe, in fact the Romans built a dirty great wall to keep them out as they were considered too fierce to tame. The wall also stopped the Scots from nicking their horses, however the Romans developed a taste for JW Black and knocked a hole in the wall to trade for horses. LOL
PS. I am English, born in Sheffield where the best steel comes from.

I'm just stirring the pot Iggy, Being a Heinze 57 American I have Scottish, Irish and English along with a dab of German, and perhaps a little Siwash Indian thrown in to round it all out. So I won't hold your Englishness against you.
I wonder if that's a real word? My spell checker doesn't think so. LOL
Just for those who aren't familiar with the term Heinze 57, the Heinze condiment company the same one who makes cat-sup (aka catchup or cetchup or katchup spell it anyway you like) used to advertise that they made 57 varieties, hence the reference and it was often used to describe those of us with greatly mixed backgrounds, and in some cases it became something to brag about.
America being the melting pot that it is.
So now that you are all educated beyond the norm, you can use the answer in your next trivia test.  ;D
Mixed Up Gabby

My ancestors are Irish and Terry's are Welsh and we both met in the UK and now live in Australia so I guess that makes us a touch of Heinz 57 too.
