Title: Granddaughter in the shop.
Post by: Russ C on April 05, 2012, 04:40:14 pm
My granddaughter Mekayla has decided to join me again in the shop. I taught her how to scroll saw last year, but she seemed to lose interest. Well she returned yesterday and called me again today to pick her up from school so she could scroll some more.  :)  :)  :) Yep I am happy.  :)

I have 2 grandaughters wanting to be taught how to scroll, my biggest problem is persuading my daughter to let them try it. I have told her scrolling is one of the safest forms of woodworking there is as long as you are sensible.

My youngest Grandson likes to spend time in the shop with me.  He always wants to make guns, knives, and planes.  My youngest Grandaughter doesn't like being in the shop (Too much saw dust Grandpa!), but she loves for me to scroll anything for her that has a kitten in it.  Enjoy it!

I remember when my grandaughter would spend time with me in the shed. She would spend hours gathering the fine sawdust and putting it into small bottles. I came across one just the other day. Now she is 14 and her interests have shifted from spending time with poppy to .......boys.  :(

My grandson comes into the garage with me sometimes.  He as made a couple of things but he's in a I don't want to do it mood at the moment.  My granddaughter's turn will start soon and what do you want to bet, if ones scrolling the other will want to too.

Hey proud granddad,
That's really great, always fun to have other voices in the workshop. ;)
I like it when my daughter comes in every now and then to do some project, so I know a bit what you feel.

I don't have any  ::)

Great Russ!    I also had the pleasure of my granddaughter joining me in the garage today.  She needs a couple more years before I will feel comfortable about her working in there as well.

Enjoy your time with her, they grow up WAY too fast.
