Yeah!!! I got in the shop today.. I posted my Crown of Thorns a while back but never got to finish it. Well, I made my first frame for this one. It's only stacked together I still have a bit of work on it. All comments are welcome... Sheila

Looks very good to me.

looks perfect to me, nice cutting, The mitred corners of the frame meet nicely too which is something I always get wrong. Very nice.

looks nice to me Sheila, good job. thanks for sharing

Sheila, I love the simplicity of the frame! It accentuates the portrait perfectly!

Sheila Darlin' you did a great job.
That same portrait is in my "To Be CUT" pile.
As a 'personal' observation I feel that there is a lot of the same or very similar color in the project.
Using the frame that you have made I personally would go with a backer that would give more contrast to the portrait and make it 'pop'!
Just my personal preference.
Yours is great as is!!!

Thank you all... GB I went with the monotone to highlight the portrait.. Before I put it together permanently I will check on different backers. When I cut this one I cut an extra. So maybe a different color backer on it. As far as my frame building trust me I was nervous and I was almost ready to give up.. I have a friend close to where I live, that is a cabinet maker ;D he showed me how to do them.. Even with his help it almost eat my lunch.. "Laughing" Again thank you all.... Sheila

It's a good looking frame, Sheila. I think you're on your way. (When I grow up I'm going to learn how to make frames.)

I have a question for those of you who do these type of cuttings. How do you cut all the tiny line pieces (that are only attached at very small points) without them breaking out at some point??? I love these kind of patterns, but have never attempted anything so tiny and meticulous, but would love to try.
Thanks,
Ken

Ken when I cut these patterns and there are tiny delicate places in them I save the cutout and tape it back in place after cutting to hold the delicate part in place. That way you have less risk of breaking.. I keep a roll of clear tape beside my scroll saw just for that purpose.. There are times I even cut small strips to have them ready. I hope this helps and hasn't confused you... Sheila
