This is my version of "A Stalking Leapord "! I seen this cut by R Fortier and just loved it, so i thought i would give it a go , It was cut from 6.5mm ( 1/4" )birch plywood and i cut a stack of three. The cutting itself measures 25" x 20" and i have put it in an old frame that was not being used! I cut all of it using spiral blades and must say i am getting to like them! According to the pattern there are 775 cuts , but i did not count them :D
The Pattern is by Kerry Hallam. Hope you like it ....Pete

That really looks great, Pete. I cut mine with flat blades, I still just can't get used to spirals. It must really be impressive at that size.

Pete....The leopard looks almost real. Super Great on the cutting. That is a to me Huge Portrait. Negative on the Spirals for me. You must be Good using them as there is lots of tender cuts there. Did you use the Flat blades on some places? Top of the Line for me.... Danny :+}

WOW ! Thanks for the wonderful reply's , I really appreciate them and they inspire me to better things .
Glen , I did not count the hrs as did a bit here and there but it would be around the 30 - 40 hrs mark
R Fortier , i was very impressed with yours and it does look great at this size but have to admit i was going to make it even bigger but i did not have enough ply that size and i was to lazy to go and get some ha ha ,I may do it again only bigger
Danny , No i did not use any flat blades , i used spirals on the whole project , i have to say i am getting more used to them and i find that the bottom of the stack is as good as the top with spirals ;)
Malc , I am not telling you until you leave a positive comment :D only kiddin if you look up R Fortier's one he has the issue of the magazine that it came from !
Once again thanks for all your kind comments ....Pete

Simply beautiful. Thanks for sharing

Super job. thanks for counting all the cuts before I drove myself nut trying to count them myself.
-
Pete, did you find there was a lot of cleaning up to do using spirals? The one time I used some they produced lots of whiskers on the back of the wood. Perhaps someone out there knows a way to stop that happening?

Super job. thanks for counting all the cuts before I drove myself nut trying to count them myself.
Cripiea, As i said on the original posting i did not count them ! thats what was on the pattern "775 Cuts" , I dont take a note of time or count cuts as i feel that it would become a chore , So i do what i can when i can and i enjoy the challenge of being as accurate as i can be and knowing when to stop if i am getting tired! simply put it will be finished when it is finished and not before ! ;)
Malc; Yes They leave lots of Fuzzies ,The bottom of the stack is usualy the worst . " grampa's idea" use a small kitchen burner and a soft brush to lightly burn away the fuzzies , I use the soft brush to stop the wood from catching alight as the really fine pieces have a tendency to catch
I did try Grampa's other idea of a flame thrower out back but did not like the charcoal effect ::)
