Hi Everyone. Thought I would introduce myself. I am Geoff and I live in Wales in the UK. I have been scrolling for a few years. Everything I make I sell at craft fairs and a few other places. In the main I make children's things like animal puzzles from various hardwoods and up to about a dozen pieces. I also do children's name signs along with portraits of animals. I have an excalibur 21 which has just gone back to the supplier and I have a Dewalt 788 Mk 1 which is a dream to work with. I have an indoor workshop with all the usual tools and machines to enjoy the complete scroll saw experience. I am looking forward to being an active member on the site.

Hi Chippygeoff, I'm Keith from Cornwall. Welcome to the forum, there is a wealth of information here and loads of very talented members willing to share their knowledge and expertise. I see you sent your EX21 back to the supplier, not too much wrong I hope? I have just had troubles with my EX16, but Axminster have been fantastic and have finally got it sorted (after 5 new machines and an upgrade lol) keep making the sawdust and please post pictures of your work as we all like to see other members creations.

Thanks Julie for the welcome and to you Keith. Keith, I hate to say this but of all the scroll saws I have used the ex-21 is probably the worst machine I have ever used. There are several design faults with this machine as far as I am concerned. The blade clamps are the worst i have used, there is not enough room between the blade and the front of the table. I have a dewalt 788 and cannot fault it and the guy that designed it designed the excalibur and for the life of me I don't know why he did not use the blade clamps from the 788. The clamps are huge with a wide gap you can drive a bus through and when the blade goes in you cannot see it in relation to the clamp locking bolt. I could never get the saw to cut square and when i made jigsaws the pieces would only slide out one way and that is no good at all. The rods inside the arms were not right and the arms were impossible to get in alignment with each other. I just had a bad one. I am hoping to get a refund from the supplier as the saw is only a few months old and then I am going to save up for a Hegner.
