Title: Questions about new 40-690
Post by: TigerPawTreasures on February 25, 2012, 09:35:32 pm
Just ordered the Delta 40-690 can't wait to get it. However I want to know of anything that I may need to do or is it ready to go once the table it attached?
Thank you and any and all info will be greatly appreciated.

Congrats on the new saw!

First thing to look at when you put it together is the blade stoke.  First off check the side to side motion and adjust with the set screws in the blade clamps as necessary to get it travelling straight up and down.  Once you've done that, get the table perfectly square to the blade using a small square or protractor and adjust the indicator if necessary.  These adjustments will get you started.  Let me know you have any questions.

I would also suggest waxing the table a couple of times.  I use Johnson's Paste Wax and apply it a couple of times a month (at least) when I am doing a fair amount of cutting.

Makes the wood slide much easier and provided better control.   Hope this is of help also.
