"A new survey reported that 40 percent of people think it's a good idea to
get engaged on Valentines Day. The other 60 percent were men." -Conan

I think it's interesting that no one has commented on this post, being so close to V-Day, I would guess ;)

I suspect most of us are way past the engagement stage ::)

Valentines day defibrillator. Because of my age I have to turn it around. "Words speak louder then action" Love is in the eye of the beholder and its been awhile since I held her. When you've given it your all; theres nothing left.
After you've raised kids and you go into a card shop to pick up a valentines Day card and after the tenth one you feel if you gave one with those words you would be committing a fraudulent act.
Love is strange and the more you love the stranger you get.
Engaged, I'm just happy to get it in gear. Once I get it going I have to lean into it.

My second marriage took place on Valentine's Day......an interesting and somewhat funny story for another time....
Lasted 15 years and I finally figured out she loved her kids more than me.
Tried my best to keep it going but it didn't change so we split.

After 43 years together, if I gave my wife a Valentine Card, the first thing I would be asked is, What the hell are you after. The rest of the questions are not fit for the forum!!! lol.

My husband and I have been married for almost 41 years and never in that time have Valentine's day cards been exchanged but then again neither have anniversary cards (I usually forget). But he does get me flowers for our anniversary so thats better than nothing I guess.

I gave my wife Steve's heart puzzle for Valentine's day. She gave me a card. Been married for almost 40 years. I don't think it's necessarily the gift, but the recognition.

I AGREE with Marion.....Best thing about Valentines Day is the half price candy. Those chocolate hearts, lips and roses
taste just fine ;D

Hmmm no cards for us, 38 yrs married, but he did get me a steak dinner.. Does that count? ;D

We have been married 43 years, and I understand the "looking for cards" idea. I tried that this year. Then I came home and made one for her on the computer.

Well, I got her a nice card, got her a nice bouquet of Roses and made her Keefie's "You Are My Life" plaque, And I still got no romance!

Well DG, I'd just like to say "it worked for me " :o :o

Before my present wife, I dated another woman, and proposed on Valentines Day. Then sanity set in and I ended it on Good Friday. True story..
Married present wife in April, 6 years ago at age 70, and we are doing just fine.

45 years on 29th March, we have been married, 50 years ago tomorrow 19th March we met, and she does not believe that I bought a new EX21 just to make her a nice memento for our 45th. I guess I will never understand women. Iggy (God bless Gabby and make him well)

Well I gotta add my 2cents.... Second marriage at present. Just celebrated our 20th Anniversary. Valentines day is special to us. We both give that Special Valentines wishes and also a small gift and later the dine out. My gifts to her for the past 19 years have been them beautiful stuffed animals that sing. This year like Bill I made her Steves Valentine puzzle. Also made a special lil box to hold it in. Also made her Steves 20th Years Together plaque. Also Steve's Double hearts with Cupid standing on one and lastly Steves plaque with a heart and two doves on top with a smaller heart in the middle saying I LOVE YOU.
Anyway we do Valentines day somewhat like Christmas. Danny :+}

We have been married 49 years and I can truly say that I love my wife more now than I did in our first years of marriage. Why do we need Valentine day cards? You need to express your love, affection and appreciation everyday of your lives. Don't get me wrong as we both have had arguments, disagreements
and bumps in our lives but the solution is to agree on disagreeing. We never go to bed without a kiss goodnight. I married the best gal in the world and I will Love her till the end of my time.
I hope you guys do not take this the wrong way as I am not trying to bash anyone or trying to get any brownie points from the women on this site. marriage is a strong institution as long as you both are willing to compromise.
