Title: Skittles Dispenser - Version 2
Post by: DWSudekum on January 27, 2012, 11:31:22 pm
Here is a slightly modified gumball dispenser from Steve Good's Pattern.  I have added a tray.  The wood is a new plywood my local Lowes started carrying.  It was finished with Tung Oil.

GB the new plywood is the US and Canada's answer to Baltic Birch Ply.  This ply has white maple facings generally but can be gotten with a variety of facings and the core are 1/16 birch.  It is called Appleply Plywood and their website is http://www.appleply.com/ (http://www.appleply.com/) it cuts very well and takes a finish great it is perhaps a little more expensive to get it from Lowes but you can not get BB ply easily around here.  I figure I will be making more projects from it in the future.... I think they would make a great insides for a booksafe.... the layers would show pretty good for pages I think.  Anyway time will tell.

It probably was full Marcel!  Just didn't make it through the "photo shoot"!!  ;) :D  I know that's how it'd go for me! ;D

Nice work and a great idea DW!!!  Wonder if they'll get any of that ply around these parts?!  What thicknesses are available at Lowe's?

The sizes went from 1/8 to 3/4 thick cut in widths form 4 inches to 10 inches wide and several feet in length.

This is great DW.  But it would cost me a fortune to keep filling it with my family, they would only have to look at it and it would be empty.  LOL
