Check out Steve's pattern catalog tons of awesome free patterns. Most can be done by a beginner.

Go to Steve's pattern site and you will find all kinds of different patterns. Welcome to the form. I'm Gene from Iowa. Go to the introduction page and introduce yourself there so others from the form can say hi.

Hey flagrl, Welcome to the forum. Go to www.scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com
This is Steve Good's blog. He has a catalog of all his patterns there. A lot of them are beginners patterns.
Please go over to the Introduction page and introduce yourself so we can welcome you properly!

Try the letters of this one: http://www.stevedgood.com/lovepen.pdf
And you should also try some wordart - probably your name. Steve has the scroll saw pattern printer (http://www.stevedgood.com/setup.exe) which is pretty simple to use.
Choose any wood you have available - don't argue to much when you do not cut on the line all the time. You always need to remember: Nobody will notice when the pattern is off ;) ;D
And yes, I second Dan: introduction is recommended.

I agree, go to Steve's blog and go through the catalog. There are all kinds of patterns for you to select from. He also has videos on you-tube Steve Good Channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/sdgood?blend=1&ob=video-mustangbase) you can watch. :)
