Hi there everybody,
Been rather busy lately with orders etc. I made one of Steve's cheeseboards and have another half cut. What finish do you think would be best to use, as I hope that they will be used to serve cheese or small snacks on?
Thanks

Hey David, Mineral oil would probably be good to use here. Just apply, let it soak in and then wipe off the excess. It will be easy to touch up when necessary.

Mineral oil or butcher block oil is what I use. Some people swear by vegetable oil, but it can spoil and produce an unpleasant smell..

I agree, I think mineral oil would be a good choice for a cheeseboard. :)

Thanks guys, I need to go out to the DIY shop later so then I can hopefully pick some up.

Hey David. You can get mineral oil at most drug stores or in the pharmacy section of wall mart. Odds are most hardware retailers wont have it in stock..

Thanks Marcel,
Ever since mineral oil was mentioned on this forum I have been struggling to find the right thing. Might go to IKEA during the week. Now at least I know where to get it from.
