Title: One for My Daughter

Just finished on of Steve's patterns for my daughter, hope she likes it.

That is really pretty!  What is the wood you used for the backing?  It is really striking.  Did you oil-finish it?

Shelia, The backing is some old oak barn siding board that I planned down, after I glued the cut onto the backer, I just put the whole thing in lemon oil for a minute and that is the only finish on it.

Old pallets are good for that as well.  They've had a lot of time to weather, and look pretty amazing when planed down.  Just make sure that you've checked them for metal bits.
