Title: Three Important Tools to suppport Scroll Sawing
Post by: budprine on May 11, 2010, 11:32:37 am
I was thinking about what tools I use in support of my scroll sawing.  I'd think it interesting what others use.  Here are my three most important:

1. Drill Press  (for making starter holes)
2. Oscillating Spindle Sander  (Finishing Prep.)
3. Band Saw  (Cutting large stock down & Resawing)

What do you think?

I guess it would depend on what kind of work you use your scroll saw for.  But for me, I find the following indispensable:

Drill Press
Router or Laminate Trimmer (I use a laminate trimmer because I do smaller stuff and it is easier for me to handle)
Dremel

I guess if I only had to choose three that would be the list, but I find that I also need a hand-held orbital sander and several other things for both prep and finishing.  (It's kind of like asking a parent which child they love the most!!! LOL)

My top 3 not including the scroll saw itself:

1. printer with paper of course
2. drill
3. sandpaper

Fancier equipment is nice but I started out with just those and a Dewalt and still had fun and made nice stuff.

Bud, I have a Wacom tablet, but also have a new laptop with Windows 7 and it is not compatible now.  LOL.  I am looking at getting a Bamboo pad.  You will like the fact of using a pen.  It gives you more the feeling of drawing on paper.  At least I feel it does.
